Similar names.  My name is Mick as in Michael.  Nick is the owner of this.

He is a friend of mine and really knows his pinball stuff, has been a great help to me over the past 4 years that I've known him.

I'm doing this playfield as favor.

Been a slow week, pinball wise.  Had to attend to that swear word WORK. 

Anyway I'm getting close to clear coating this playfield.  Only have the white and black to finish off.

The maroon colour proved the hardest to do.  Ended up having to give it 3 coats of paint, this really tested by paint mixing skills.  The maroon also dries darker for some reason.

The red area's have had 2 coats of paint.  Every other colour only needed 1.

The next update will show how I attack the black.

Pretty impressive for a foam brush paintjob  Any moves to use air brushing for future restorations? That's something I wouldn't mind investigating one day.

Another update.  White is now done.

The black is starting.  The larger black area's I use a fine paint brush and paint, but for lines and finer area's I use something different.  I've tried different markers previously with varied results, but by using the rapidograph ink the results are excellent.  This doesn't run when clear coated unlike sharpies etc.  They also come with various tip thicknesses.

You need to use a ruler for straight lines and only do small area's at a time as the ink takes awhile to dry this avoids putting your hands back over wet ink and spreading it all over your hard work.

I normally let the ink dry 24hrs before clear coating.

Next update will be after clear coating.

Gavin did some testing with sharpies and CC.. But I don't think he used this pen..

Circles are nigh on impossible to do exactly right by hand.

All finished.

Had some rust colour bleed through from the playfield timber into some of the white and green area's.  I had to retouch these back up.

I did 6 coats of clear all up.  Block back after 4 with 800 wet and dry and then applied the final 2 coats.

Think that the end result isn't too bad considering how bad it was to start with.
