Space Invaders pinball price
« on: September 28, 2009, 08:46:02 PM »
I was thinking of bidding for this but really have no idea on pricing

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280400871843&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Was this a reasonable price for a non working S/invader given I'd also have to freight it for say $200-300 then fix it?

The pictures did this machine no favors. I'd be counting on some wear around the horse shoe / bonus area. From the only photo - it is the cheapest I've seen on eBay for a while. Even with an Altek and some TLC - you would have a working machine for less than $1800 - which is a steal for this title.

Hey Rob,

I think the major issues with these is playfield wear.  I recall a Nino thread about his one and Duckman would be able to guide you were to look on the pf too.

I would want to check the wear before bidding.

Yep - Horse shoe are usually worn to wood. You can get plastics set from CPR. Backglass' are always great on Spacies - Fantastic game.

I thought you'd say that. I was on the road when this auction was ending. Looked ok when I saw the pix but too late. At least I know what a good buy may look like

I didn't even realise the auction had finished....I agree (again) with Nino....For that price plus shipping I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake.

I was watching this one as well and totally forgot about it - stupid idiot I am.  Ah well, I miss some and I miss some more.

Wonder if anyone from here snavelled it.

In the last picture you can see the horse shoe area is worn-to-wood. Also, just below the horse shoe, there is no clear photo, but from an angle, it looks like the black areas are touched up around the inserts. I think there's a few areas that are still unknown.

seemed like a good deal...yeh, i agree, the owner did himself no favours with so little photos.
but sometimes, no photos means lots of playfield wear, sometimes just an owner who wants to save 50 cents on listing fees, go figure ?  !@#

I don't know about that.  It was listed with a pretty short auction time frame - was it something like four days and in the original listing it did not mention that the pin wasn't working.  Caveat emptor and all that but to not disclose that is disgraceful.  Note that the question answers were all posted today and I didn't notice them when I looked in early this morning from work.  I'd emailed the seller and was thinking of having a look at it, but never got up his way - again I think it listed on fri and he said it could only be viewed in business hours.   I'd mark him down as a seller to be wary of.

Hope the buyer did alright out of it.

anything electronic is hit n miss at the best of times..hence the reason, all manufacturers of pinballs in the past, and even stern give 3 months max on all computer boards etc etc...so if the manufacturer himself only gives a short cycle, it is fair to say something 20 yrs old is unreliable at best...
when ever i buy a pin, i always understand that something or even everything could go wrong...just part of the hobby....like marriage really..lol. *)*

i bought a bugs bunny pin recently on ebay $1610...after i won it, the owner told me the machine was not working and felt it "was a transistor or something"....he said he would take off a hundred and fifty bux..i said fine...it took my good mate andrew (beaky) 30 minutes and $10 stuff from jaycar to fix...part of the hobby, ya win some , you half lose others... *%*

hey, at least the owner did mention the thing wasnt working, eventually...and the bid was only on $600 at lunch today...i think u have a good point, but the guys who bid after the listing was changed, knew it was still a great deal...but u did make a valid point...maybe his listing was slack versus intentional .who knows..

buying pins is fun, fixing them, not so much....maybe.... ^^^

I was also watching that pin with interest but forgot about it finishing time .  !@) . I got the same pics above emailed to me although I did ask also for pics of the cabinet and inside showing the boards etc. (Think I got one showing inside the headbox but too far away to see anything .  ::) ) . I have to agree that this seems to have finished for a pretty good buy but as already mentioned with it not working and some areas of wear I think the final sale price reflected it's true value .

Lucky we didn't get into a bidding war over it as by the sounds of it we would've all been bidding against each other ..  %.%
