« on: October 03, 2009, 08:36:57 PM »
Hi All,

Just found this inspiring restoration video made by Clark Mills in New Zealand.

Bloody good video 10mins long, after watching this video I think I could even have a go at re-decaling a pinball cab, great video.

Good work Clark

see the link below....

cheers

I've only done decals 1.5 times :D

The actual application of the decals (if done slowly and with another person to help) I think is the easy part.  I've done both the wet and dry method and would do either again.

The time consuming part is the cabinet preparation.  Lots of sanding, filling etc....I used a belt sander to remove the decals on my HS2 and I think this caused me more work in the long run.  Definately use heat gun next time to remove old decals.

I WATCHED THE VIDEO TWICE and i can say the following.

1. the NZ man is TALENTED. i like his methods. still hard work. BUT HE IS TALENTED -NO QUESTION ABOUT IT.  *%*

2. the video has made me feel good about the fact i pay a professional QLD guy (ALSO TALENTED LIKE THE NZ GUY) $600 CASH per machine plus i supply the decals to do my machines. I dont want to scew up the $300 decals.and i like supporting other guys in the industry.  *%*

3.nothing looks as good as a newly decalled pinball machine with new decals, new legs, new leg bolts n feet, as well as new leg protectors and a newly waxed playfield.  *%*  *%*  *%*

AND THE BEST PART ABOUT IT, WE CAN DO IT ALL CAUSE OF COMPANIES LIKE MARK C WHO SUPPORT THE INDUSTRY/HOBBY WITH WELL PRICED EVERYTHING.

GOT TO JUST LOVE THIS PINBALL HOBBY.  now i will salute the video dude with a cold bouban and coke.CHEERS.  ^^^  ^^^  ^^^  ^^^  ^^^

You forgot a new door too!

I think I've got 3 or 4 in my cupboards at home (running out of space)!

I've seen the video a few times and he certainly makes it look very easy.

I would have sealed the cabinet and not placed the decals directly on the wood, especially over repaired areas ?

He has a very impressive system that works well for him - very well made video and would have influenced a few newbs to attempt the installation.
