Drop a Card Plastic reproduction
« on: October 16, 2009, 11:12:38 PM »
Hi Guys,

I have been slowly working on my Drop a Card, mostly the cosmetics side of things as Nino has done a mini resto on it, and brought it back to life with a heap of parts from PBR.

My main issue was that I had a "random" plastic in the middle of my playfield, and that my plastics were not spot on.

Anyway after looking everywere, I thought that would have a crack at making my own plastics.

I must thank Extraball for providing me with a scan of the missing plastic.

I have scanned the plastics and then redrawed all of the images and recoloured the faded plastics.

Then I made reverse cut stickers of these images and then silkcreened the back of the sticker in white to give the image a better look when the lights hits it from behind.

I then cut 1.6mm perspex with a CNC machine after using the external lines of the plastics for the cut areas.

I have also made polycarbonate protectors for the plastics (1.6mm) to get a bit more life out of the new plastics. These are clear and go under the plastics.

I have made a few extra sets of plastics, so if anyone is interested please PM me.

If not I will put them on ebay.

Let me know what you think

Cheers Angelo

Hi Nino,

I did go back to 1.6mm, but also added the 1.6mm polycarbonate under it to protect it.

The acorn nuts had heaps of room with the two pieces under it.

I went downstairs and took some shots on the playfield.

Still not done yet, Daniel. The 31 inch legs and new bolts will finish it off nicely for now until Angelo works out what his next step is.

A really great game to play from this era !

Angelo, I really appreciate the work you did on the Drop A Card plastics. The top one was missing, and the two slingshot plastics had been cut shorter to accomodate the 3' flippers that never should have been put on. So .... without the extra sets you made I would not have been offered this set of plastics. So, thanks a lot. Regards, Mark

Excellant Result. @@*
Can you let me know the full process you did on the scanning/printing etc of the artwork.
Cant work out how you print reverse to apply to the plastics. Hope this makes sense.
