DE Secret Service
« on: November 28, 2008, 06:20:39 AM »
Thought I'd post a link to my Secret Service restoration from last year. This is my most successful restoration project so far. There are a couple more in the queue, but they've been there so long already I quit holding my breath some time ago.

Turned out pretty good. It's a really fun game.

Thanks for posting this Vinito - nuggy is currently doing up a Secret Service. It was actually my game, bought as a wreck for the backbone for the next game after Coconut Island, but it turned out to bee in really nice condition under the grime, so we decided it was way too good and would need to be restored. Missing a few bits (like one of the spinners) but I hope it comes up as nice as yours!

Thanks for the Kudos.
I guess it probably depends on your experience and preferences Nick, but I think you'd really like the game once it's back running again. There's not much depth, but I think playing SSvc is a blast.

By the way, I found it really hard to find spinners that would fit. It's some bastard size, or at least uncommon enough that the standard vendors didn't have a match. I ended up doing some modification to the mounting points to make mine work (one was missing and the other a hacked mismatch when I got the game).

Feel free to use my images to make replacement decals. I spent a ton of time in Photoshop to clean them up. Should have spent some more time matching the greens, but I was burned out by then. The other colors are pretty close. New decals really made my game look crispy compared to its dingy, craptacular former condition.

p.s. I had a little fun on the restoration too. I'll buy a beer for the first one to find the hidden cow.

Hidden cow is on the Drop Target Decals behind the James Bond lookalike  %$%

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
He may be a sick little man, but not unclever.

OK, unless you live nearby, you'll have to bill me. Lessee... one Schlitz and 1/8 of a lime. I'll mail you a stamp  <.>
If you make it to my neighborhood, I'll upgrade the beer and join in. The good news is I lose count after one.
Cheers <tink>

Ah, just my style. Someone prepared to invest in an airline ticket to get a beer!

"Kansas, USA"

Right Toe!
If anyone has to buy an airline ticket to get here to drink beer, I'll buy the really good "name brand" stuff.
Give me some notice though. I don't really drink that much and it might take me a week or so of practice to get my system re-acquainted with mass quantities of alcohol. Aahh, to be a kid again.
