That green looks OK - any CC will bring out the difference though. Being such a small area try using spray P/thane.

Cut a hole in a piece of paper just under the size of what you want to spray. Hold paper above PF approx 3- 4" and spray the paper. Dont even think about the hole as your brain will tell you to spray through the hole ( brains are like that)

What happens is the spray gets diffused - covers area you want but diffuses out leaving no lines etc.

For small little touch ups - P/thane is great, if its good enough for the kitchen table it can handle a ball rolling over it.

Acrylic paint should always be matched dry as it darkens when drying. Acrylics can be really irritating to use because of this. Im assuming you used acrylic as you mentioned it darkened when dry - enamel shouldnt do this.

But shes a VERY tidy machine - great score!

Now moving onto cleaning visible nuts, screws and plastics...I'm being ultra careful as a few are cracked etc...I'm considering putting mylar ontop of the cracked plastics just to keep them together?

Question for owners of Police Force....In the above photo, just to the right of the hole on the playfield which the rod goes through for the microswitch / gate there are two smaller holes (just to the bottom of the middle bumper).  There was nothing there previously and I don't know what should go there?  I believe there is a hole in the 'cocaine' plastic for something there but I'm flying blind...Nothing of value on IPDB either...

Not much more progress made...

Pop bumpers are partly back together...Ordered new lamp sockets & bumper caps...Not sure if I can find the decals which go on top of the bumpers, but will have to google.  Also beacon lights back on and cleaned.  The centre piece was painted an flat grey (almost undercoat colour).  I sanded this and painted it silver.  Just a pressure pack job.  Came out OK.  I'm also trying to find the "Police Force" decals which go on them.  I may have to try a sticker place, but I'm not sure if they have the chrome colour which I believe they came in?

I will have to sort out the wiring again for the lamps in pop bumpers, then playfield is done....I've decided not to remove the mylar on lower pf.  There are a few bubbles but I don't want to wreck a very good playfield just for that..If someone has done the 'injecting clear into bubble' method I would be interested?!

Yes.  Given it was around the pop-bumpers I had a spare bit left over and its gone down over the entire section..  I know generally the mylar around the pop bumpers is thicker but it should hopefully prevent futher wear.  Plus I knew at that stage I would not be removing the lower section of mylar.  I had read about people having horror stories removing factory mylar (on F-14 etc)...I couldn't find any playfield decal sets either so that pretty much sealed the deal for me!

Dont blame you for leaving it on if its not absolutely necessary.
I have Space Station from around the same period, Mylar is good apart from a few bubbles round the inserts.
Doesnt affect play in any way, but i do intend taking it off.
Normally use the heat method, but ill try the injection method also through the bubbles. Heat can be a risk, if injection works better, ill be sure to let you know

OK, bit more of an update..

PinScore arrived today (thankfully without damage!).  Removed old score assembly, old mounting bolts and +100/-100v fuse.  Marco's instructions didn't say too, but my understanding is that they are not being used now so no real need to have them in..

I had to modify the back board (lamp board) just slightly.  There is a display test switch mounted on the rear of the pcb.  I measured everything up but it was being depressed if mounted so I cut a slot for it and all seems good.  The displays are awesome.  Very clean and its good to be able to adjust the brightness too..

The pic doesn't really do it justice.  I have not aligned them with the translight as yet as I'm waiting on a backglass lift channel from MarkC!.  I don't want to risk damaging the translite putting it in and out without one.

Its getting there, slowly...

The good news is today I found the holy grail of mylar places, in every colour and size under the rainbow! including chrome.  So I picked up a mtr and its getting the lettering cut for "Police Force" on the domes on the header box.
