Paragon
« on: October 22, 2009, 08:40:08 PM »
If anybody can give me some advice about shipping this machine i would appreciate it.I do not know how to put up the link sorry ,but on ebay in the U.S.A. i spotted what looks to be a real nice Paragon. This is on the top of my wish list and i thought with the aussie dollar going so well at the moment, and if it ended at a good price i would consider having a go for it.Any ideas on the shipping costs, and other charges to get it here.It is in Richmond, Virginia.Any help would be great. Thanks Tony.

speak to mark c.

OR see if the seller will drop it at an aiport or a sea terminal.
u need to speak with a freight forwarder here in OZ who deals with USA. Speak with your local DHL company.
no matter what, get the item insured ! the freight forwarder can organise this.

Hi Tony,

Hey just check your 'landed costs' as this great free country of ours LOVES - ABSOLUTELY LOVES- taxes.
I recall helping Paul collect his HH from the freight forwarder at Botany - the 'extra' charges were approx $800++ big ones ( Paul would recall exactly )
This , for me, could be a deal killer.
Just check it out and be careful.

Hey and to put a link in -
* Have your Internet browser opened twice - have one browser sitting on your Ebay page you want to link to, use the 2nd browser for your AP    message

* When posting a message press the 'earth' button as indicated by the green arrow below.

* You will then get [url][url] in your message box as indicated by the red arrow below and your cursor will automatically be sitting betwee the 'parantheses brackets' where the red arrow tip is.

* Go to your Ebay browser and highlight the address bar up top and copy it - then - come back to your AP nmessage page and 'paste it' in between the [url][url]

* thats all.

Just for info, I asked Mark about shipping a machine out a few weeks ago, he wasn't in a position to offer the $500 shipping.

Funnily enough it was also for a very nice Paragon machine which has since been sold.

Paragon is on top of my list also, good luck with it what an awesome pin. My favourite art for pins of that era, with Gorgar coming in second.

I made some enquiries the other day about US to Australia sea shipping (for future reference). I was told by 2 freight forwarders/agents that all the clearance costs once it has arrived here will  cost $700 -850 approx. (as wotto estimated in the previous post)

So if you get an agent to do everything, their is the US senders shipping charge, plus $700 -850 to clear it here, plus taxes if it exceeds $1,000.

Also DHL don't do US to Australia "one off" private sea shipping deliveries, only business.
