Slapper or pusher
« on: November 30, 2008, 12:19:01 AM »
Having a couple of mates round - both brothers, i noticed their flipper action was to slap the side of the cabinet.
Interesting i thought. Dunno if it helped their game or made the ball fly up the PF quicker, but it got me thinking...

I just stand there - kick the odd leg out trying to save a ball, but i basically just press the flippers with my fingers.

So whats everyone else??

Pusher for the most part, the odd slap, but usually more out of frustration as the ball goes SDTM...

I always found that slapping meant you could sometimes save what was going down between the flippers.

I very rarely tilt a ball and I definitely don't "slap" the buttons... I just feel very relaxed playing a game.. Occasionally, the back leg swings out, but that is about as violent as it gets...  :D

I'm a pusher. In fact, my "bad habit" is that I tend to hold the flipper up a bit too long which causes problems sometimes. I do occasionally tilt, but mostly when it's heading toward the same spot where it's drained about the fifth time in a row. After the tilt of course it doesn't drain down that same spot and could have been saved. ::)

Once I woke up and had a sinking feeling that I had blacked out. I walked in to admire the pin lineup and my prized MM was missing! "WTF? Where the hell did it go?" A little later that morning I strolled out the front door with a cup of coffee to get the paper and there it was - in little pieces on the front lawn. "Oh, yea. Bad game."

Not really.

I'll occasionally threaten to punch through the top of the glass when things don't go right after about the fifth bad game in a row. Just a mock punching motion that maybe ends in a slap on the middle of the lock bar. I'll never follow through on the punch threat. 95% of the time I'm pretty mellow and smiling while playing a game.
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here.

Also, always been a 'puller' on the plunger...Didn't have time for those who went the palm shunt on it!   ()

Aaah yes - the "tough guy" approach to ball shooter skills. I ban anyone from doing that in my games room. Do it and you're barred!

i tend to do a bit of both, mainly slap when trying to save a ball,

i dont mind shaking a machine,to try and save the ball going down a sidelane

yeah i tilt them sometimes, but there made to be shaken a bit..arnt they...

i find mates that play them, tend to slap alot, they think there getting more power on the ball

keep telling them its a timing thing *%*

I am a pusher, until there is a ball that needs it (near the flipper tip) - then I transform into a slapper &&  Funny thing is despite trying for sustained periods, I only have a decent slap save on the right hand, cannot develop a good left hand leading slap save *.*

cheers
Ian

Mark had ONE BALL on the sinbad - wait - it was not even the first ball, and the game was tilted !!

not sure if it was him, or the fact we moved the game - but it was funny to see an EM Kick his ass tonight !!
