« on: November 20, 2009, 12:46:15 AM »
I can buy a Scared Stiff, for around  5.5 ,or I could probably pick up a couple of DMD`s for the same money, not sure which way to go.
What can anyone recommend as a good game to look for.

For $5,500 I would take the 2x DMDs anyday!

Definately Fish Tales, Flintstones, and Dr Who. Buying one expensive machine can equal quick boredom.

I think it all depends on how much you like SS. Sure you can get lots of cheaper pins around but if it is what you really want they I say Go For It. After all you'll always be able to get others down the track and if this SS is exactly what you want then you may not see another in the condition again. Several times i have HoHummed on Higher priced pins only to regret it later after I'd missed out. Won't happen again *.*

$5500 is around the "going" price for a Dealer Scared Stiff - and it would have to be a machine that has had a thorough reconditioning process completed on it - That would include stripping the machine, replacing ALL globes and rubbers, cleaning all parts and reassembly.  Boards would be upgraded etc..

Wotto had a pearler of an SS for around the $4000 mark.

I guess my advice would be to ask all the relevant questions (as above).

As much as I love SS, if you can source a Fishtales AND a Flintstones for $5500 - then that would be your best option.

I have to agree. If you really want the machine, Scared Stiff or any other, then get the one you want.
Don't settle for other machines you might not be as keen on.
I have a want list and I try to stick to it. Otherwise you chase every machine that pops up at a good price just 'cause it's a good deal, instead of getting the pins you really want. :2cents:
Pins: The Getaway, TotAN, WH2O, Pinball Magic, Banzai Run, Flintstones, Judge Dredd, Lord of the Rings LE, Metallica LE, Iron Man VE, The Walking Dead LE, Star Trek The Next Generation.

as said above, unless SS is a game you really have your heart set on for whatever reason, get something else.
IMO its a bit too shallow and repetitive and only really suited if you have 3 or 4 other games to play

Yeah, good luck hunting down the two titles; should be a lot of fun.
