It's a sad reality when you realise.....

It's a sad reality when you realise.....

that since I have been a member of this web site I have spent more time on this site than playing pinball.  !@#

I have spent 15 Days, 1 Hour and 54 minutes on here but i know i haven't spent half as much time playing pins.  !!!

especialy when the weather is this hot, its just to hot to play. Plus if you play them in this heat is not to good for the them.
I think it is time to buy an airconditioner for the house.

How many of you are in the same boat? does the time you have spent on this site since you became a member add up to more than the time you have played your pins while being a member??

But it looks like the great reality is that when we are not playing pinball we can talk pinball.  #*# #*# $#$ $#$

I try to balance my time here and in the garage - that is - my "free" time.

I feel very fortunate, as I've been here since day one and I've enjoyed watching it grow. I remember the early days when I would answer my own posts just to create some conversation. I've met MANY good friends and learnt HEAPS.

I don't look at how long I've been "online" anymore - I just accept it as being "the norm"

Talking pinball is as much fan as playing and restoring  ^^^

i will say the title on this topic is my attempt at a bit of humour.

today i was talking about how the world was before we had the internet.

I must admit does add alot more fun & to the pinball hobbie, its great to chat with other people who have the same hobbie, and the ease of access to replacement parts.

i remember back in the late eighties and early nineties how much of a pain it was to get spare parts, the process was get the yellow pages and ring the suppliers in your area, then if they had the part you would have to drive to the place and pick it up, or "we can order it in for you".

now a days you just jump on the net and check the aussie distributors and if they dont have it then check out if companies on the other side of the world have got it.

man, have things changed in the last 20 years

Pre-internet you just wrecked decent machines to keep your better ones going, it didnt really matter because pins were in garage sales/sat paper's for-sales column every weekend. We had a shed full of machines in the 80's, 12-15 to play, and 10 or more wrecked to keep them going. Good pin could be purchased for 50 fair to 200 bucks for near mint one back then. I dont have dads collection, but I have great memories of it!

Life is about balance and having fun! I personally dont care how much time I spend doing either thing so long as I have a ball!

Besides, it is pissing down rain, the garage is cold, Retropin has offered to make some stencils for Jungle Queen (so I have some extra time), nothing on the TV (now that; the flinstones, Hogans Heroes, Bewitched and I Dream of Genie have finished), (just joking!)

So I thought I should respond to your post!

Great Forum, Great talent, Great fun!

Probably need to turn the chime box down on Sinbad so I can increase the asset utilization !! Kids are aslseep!

I dont think so Tony, and at that time I was the only person in my family taking photos (on my B&W polariod instamatic camera), and I dont remember taking any. Dad would never have called himself a collector (he was a tinkerer of many things), there wouldnt be photos because there was no one who would be interested in them I guess (at the time). Reminds me, one wog EM gave him hell trying to fix, so he attached a ball plunger through the side of the cabinet, so it tripped a relay to start the game. Now I wish I had a photo of that! Ya miss ya dad heaps when they go, those memories are really special though.
