LED's in my DE Star Wars
« on: December 08, 2009, 10:38:15 PM »
Been a bit of talk lately about LED's in pins and some people like them while others don't .

I recently kitted out my Data East Star Wars with LED's and have just got it all back together after having it apart for a good clean . Thought I'd take some pics to share .

The LED's under the inserts were bought in a kit from Medaillion (Albert) from Germany and the others I got from Cointaker in the U.S.  . I have changed every single bulb on and under the playfield to LED (including the flashers and GI ) . I used mostly colour matching led's to match the inserts and for the flashers I used all Warm White except for in R2-D2 and the Death Star which I used blue and red respectively (see pics 3 and 4). For the GI I used warm white frosted led's .

Let us know what you think .

Great job - looks like you have selected well on colours and when to use white.

I guess the leds throw more light and a longer distance compared to old bulbs.

Adding white leds probably illuminates the playfield the way incandescent lamps SHOULD have done...
Leds certainly bring out richer colours, and placing (additional) leds in dark areas can really bring the playfield to life too.

I guess you've probably dropped 100+ watts off your power supply too.  #@#

well done.
MM.

Very Cool. Have got a DE Star Wars as well and been throwing up wether to do the LED thing. It's a reallly fun game to play and the wife and kids love it and been told this pinny is a keeper.

On our pin I have an LED strip in red behind the plastics at the top of the playfield, which helps light up a dark area up there. The blue LED's in R2D2 really looks great. Wasn't sure how to light up the Death Star and I like what you have done with the red. Will get some of these and play around as well.

Nice work.
