Have only recently been thinking the same thing - why are the prices so high?

They have seemed to come down a bit but compared to the rest of the World we are paying serious money.

My EM buddies in the US just can't believe the prices we are paying

I really should not have a comment here cause i don't really know, but my guess would be cause we are so bloody far away from the rest of the world. Live in Germany you have countless countries and people and pins all around in all directions. I have Melbourne (too far), Brisbane (too far), the ocean, and the desert. Oh, i also have Perth on the other side of the desert.

I am pretty sure that over 60-70% of all pinballs ever made, were sent to Germany for distribution throughout Europe.

You will also note that the local laws over there dictated that all gaming machines (pokies) must have at least one arcade machine in the same venue to offset it.(Germany)

Many pinballs were not even turned on, but were in the same venue.

The reason that pinballs are fetching good money here is quite simple economics, we are prepared to pay what people are asking as we do not have another option to purchase from.

We are buying goods that are no longer made, and getting better quality examples is becoming more difficult as the pool of stock is shrinking.

Unless no one buys any pinballs for the next 12 months, thus increasing the pool of machines for sale, then prices will fall.

If not then we will have to put up with what we have got.

Cheers Angelo

I think the chances of this trend reversing are zero.  Because people are prepared to pay the inflated prices that we are seeing now.

As far as DMD's go.  There are still the occasional relative bargains to be had.  But they are usually dunger titles nobody really wants.

I heard the otherday that you can purchase fruit and veg cheaper in London than we can here. Of course monoplies like woolies and coles rip us off in the most criminal way.

Yeah doesn't surprise me that you can buy veg cheaper in London, much bigger market (more people) there, and happy to purchase food that is grown in China using human waste as fertiliser.

I just got back from japan, and EVERYTHING is dearer here than in tokyo.

My brothers japanese parents in law always are amazed at how expensive food and veg is here in oz -

"but don't you grow it here" they ask, um yep " so why is a steak at a pub 25 dollars then" hmm good question.

I never believed them until i went there. We get RORTED!

P.S. Yanks still pay a lot for their DMD pins IMO
