Boys weekend to Echuca on the 20th of november
« on: November 08, 2010, 09:44:04 PM »
Hey Guys
My 10 year old son and I are going on a boys weekend in a couple of weeks to Echuca to visit the penny arcade and do all the stuff that the wife won't let or makes to miserable to bother doing.

Do we have any members out that way or on the way from Geelong who we could catch up with for a game?

Or any suggestion of places to visit along the way?

We will be leaving Geelong Saturday morning and returning home Sunday afternoon or evening depending on our options.

$500 that we can blow on anything we want I'm sure we will be able to have some fun

Pretty sure there is a Holden museum in Echuca, I don't know what it is like, I have only ever driven past it.  There is a speedway track at Moama as well but I don't know if there would be a meet that night or not.

Well my son and I made it safely to Bendigo where we caught up with Angelo(slammer).  And I must say a big thanks for showing us around his retreat/ workshop. This is a guy who really can do anything (except paint he says).

Finally got to see a few of his awsome machines in the flesh and they look as good if not better in the flesh that junkyard really looks brand new and drop a card looks awsome.

And his so called office man I'm envious what a place to kick back and relax

Big thanks to Angelo angus family for there hospitality

Sorry its taken so long been to busy to pos any pictures of the trip.

Here are a few from the holden museum.   Each car has its own write up explaining if its been restored or original and any special info about the car some of the cars are actual prototypes and have only done a few hundred KMs

There web site is  www.holdenmuseum.com.au  and well worth a visit.

Here are a few more i thought this first photo was a beauty.  Its the machine used to press the cars ID tags.

The second photo is also a beauty its a VL comodore that was converted to a two door convertible by the apprentices at holden for a  motor show how good does it look   *%*

Third photo is a cut away Group A engine they have a dozen engines all cut up into sections so you can see ow they work.  I know how engines work and have rebuilt many but seeing them cut into sections like this was great to see

Next couple of photos are from THE GREAT AUSSIE BEER SHED   www.greataussiebeershed.com.au

Sadly i let heath take the photos and almost all of them were blurry not sure ow he managed it but he did.

This shed is huge and it has lots of everything old and unusual only rule is it has to be australian made.  Apart from the collection of beer cans.

Again well worth the visit not many tours were you buy a stubby holder and get a free beer to drink during the tour.  And the guys leading the tour (I think he is the owner) is a classic
