Lights...Camera...Action (Gtb) worth a look??
« on: January 13, 2009, 10:56:19 AM »
Last time I was at PHOF in Vegas I remember playing a Gottlieb - Lights... Camera... Action. I remember enjoying it for some reason, but there are so many games there that I don't remember why I liked it. And I wasn't even drinking.

Well I have a local line on one that reportedly works 100%, though no topper :( for $700. Is this game worth having and is that a good deal? I guess that's a tricky call since games here in Kansas are probably a little less expensive than down under, but I'd like to hear opinions about how fun the game is anyways. Details about why you like it (or not I guess) would be very helpful.

I wish it had the cool topper, but I can make something up that might even "top" the topper if I had a free day or so.

Thanks for your input.

Price, i couldn't tell you what its worth as i have only seen one up for sale in Oz.

According to Tim Arnold the topper only gets in the way.

Apparently the blue and red lights reflect straight onto the glass and disturbs your vision.

Topper is more for looks than anything else.

Well I came to my senses today and remembered that I set a goal a few weeks back to scale way back on the pinball obsession. I need to get some out of here for now and use the money to buy house materials & pay off some bills & debt.

I guess it's just as well on this game. Not a lot of response so probably not worth crowding the house about it. I figured if it was an absolute keeper then more than one would have told me to jump on it by now.

I can always go play it in Vegas as long as Tim still keeps unlocking the doors. %$%

That period saw very few Gottliebs come into Australia, I've only seen LCA as a "re-import" from Europe twice over the years, so I doubt too many here have direct experience with the game.

I don't think there were too many Oz delivery Gottliebs between 84 up until the early 90's..

All re-imports the ones I've seen.

Can anyone shed a light here ?

Nino/ Tony Illawara, you guys might have a better understanding on this topic ...

To be honest - I've never seen the machine in Australia - and imports were kept at a minimum for most manufacturers during this period (to Australia).

Yes, sadly no Gottliebs were bought into the country from that era and I also was impressed to see so many "missing" Gottliebs when visiting Pinball hall of fame, and to be honest there were some really good pins made by them in that era. They were far more interesting than most of their 90's pins with very creative layouts. We have had three LCA's through here in the last couple of years, all imports and all sadly have been rough around the edges including the one we have now, but it is a fun pin to play.

I think that this is one of the reasons these machines are now attracting interest here in Australia. They just didn't make it here, so they attract the interest and imagination of the collectors..

I've seen 2 non working ones in Oz
240 Amusements had one  and I can't remember who had the other

I played the one at PHOF, it was a nice enough game but I wouldn't own one
