printer DIY tumbler
« on: January 12, 2011, 12:33:59 PM »
hey guys havent posted for a while but still pop in occasions to see whats going on in the world

sold my only pin few months ago but i still like to tinker in the pinnie area.

yesterday was driving around during work and out the front of a local print shop was a few massive old printers for the junk heap. went around after work for a looksie incase there was some odd interesting things in there and found some rubbered rollers, thought great these could go towards a tumbler

bit more digging i found this setup

removed some brackets and solenoids to make it sit flush on the floor/bench, flipped a roller over and added some bolts that i took off to a different spot to hold the roller up. hooked up a PC power supply and she works

still need to find a container and tinker some more but might go in the shelf incase i ever get another pinnie for small jobs. atm adding lead weights to test the amount of weight it could take but im thinking of hopefully maybe 2 containers with 2 grades perhaps

motor is geared to 60rpm 12v and so far has been free (motor is listed as $90 new at RS components)

If those rollers were set on a horizontal, I'd guess that you could about use a plastic bucket (drywall, etc.) for the container. Get 'em free all day long.
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here.

forgot to say 2 bolts keep the rear roller on a angle for smaller containers

once backed off and roller dropped to the next set of bolts :)
