Here's some trivera. I can still remember some of the other machines they had at the local arcade. Klondike this also was a great game (you should know Mitch). Gottlieb Flying Carpet which I picked up a few years back (Still in the restore que). They had a stand up submarine game that you looked through a periscope and had a sonar sound effect that always ran. Any one remember this game? early 70's.
At the local servo out the back had a few pins. Gottlieb Sweet Hearts, Williams Straight Flush, Williams Super Star and one  I cant remember that had 2" zipper flippers.

Sea Wolf or Sea Wolf II could be the game you are thinking of ?

Zipper Flipper machine that was quite common in Australia might have been the Bally "Nip-It" ? That is a simply awesome EM. I'd love this title !

Fireball Em would be a worth Grail for anyone I think

I don't really get why this machine gets so much love?  I've got the SS version and I think it's pretty similar main exception being lack of zipper flippers.

The art work is pretty good, the spinning table, seems to go off fairly randomly.  The main thing I like is that it's easy to get multiball and the machine has no respect for who captured the ball.  So your mate locks two balls and drains and you come along and grab them.  The SS also has really cool sound effects in an early 80's way.

But can someone explain why the EM is so revered?

I love the look of the backglass and playfield, the overall comic book look, and really like the zipper flippers. I like the messenger ball. I also like the way you can save ball on either lane (kickback and gate) which offsets the mad spinner. I think it’s the combination of so many novel things that makes it up there.
“If you wanna escape, go up to a pinball machine. There’s a magic button on the front that takes you to a world under the glass and makes the the rest of the universe disappear.”

Gottlieb Rocky is my holy grail and it is my collection.

Next holy grail is Capcom Kingpin. Hopefully with the Wizard of Oz pinball in motion this will spur Gene on to get this produced.

Fireball was so successful they made Fireball Classic, Fireball (Home Version) and Fireball II. Players and operators really liked this machine. There are a few Bally machines from this period that are highly collectible - Fireball, 4 Million BC, Captain Fantastic, Wizard, Old Chicago, and Nip It. All were very successful for operators, and this was because they were GREAT machines to play.

I thought nothing of Fireball until i played one.   !@)

To me it plays like an early SS so imagine back when it was released in 1972,it would have spaced out some players !

Fireball was 10 or so years ahead of its time, plus add the awesome artwork and its becomes the complete package. Imagine how much coin Fireball would have brought in !

Play one and you'll cotton on as to why it is a revered game.
Some people have big HEADS !
