New Pin Day (well sort of)
« on: February 27, 2011, 11:20:58 AM »
When we were selling our house two years ago we needed to get the games mostly out, so a few got spread among different mates. Had to collect my Time Warp as the room at my mate's place was scheduled for a reno. It's been over two years since I played it, and it was like getting a new game! Been having a ball with those crazy Banana Flippers, but today I'm fitting some standard ones to see what it's like that way.

That's the best backglass I've seen on a TW ! I prefer the banana flippers, as they add some "randomness" to gameplay. Once you get used to them, its a challenge to play a normal pin for a while.

You might be right Peter - installed some standard straight flippers, and it makes it a very different game.

For one thing, it highlights the dodgy system 3-6 weak flipper design, and while the flippers are sufficiently powerful if not wonderful, you miss out on the crazy ball speeds that the Banana flippers cause.

The other major difference is the lower ball times - SDTM is way more regular, caused of course by the much wider gap now between the flippers. I measure this to be 68 mm on TW, and compared to 58mm on Firepower, is a massive gap (more like what you see on Gottliebs).

Gonna try this a little while before switching back and deciding for certain, but I am thinking the Bananas are the way to go - certainly a novelty effect, but in a strange way (not you Spamways) quite effective and certainly fun.

Stick with the bananas, it is what makes the TW so different to other games,
that and I might have half a chance of beating you with them on  *)*
