The reason Bally decided to do this was because the lightening bolts resembled the German "Secret Service". The playfield is also different from the USA version. The German version is not as collectible or valuable in Australia as the USA version !

Hope that helps !

The pinball itself is a typical Bally of the era. Simple and fast. Not a player's machine at all. If the game had a different theme, it would be as valuable as a Mata Hari, Harlem Globetrotters or Supersonic.

To put it simply - The game is valuable and collectible SOLELY because it is a "KISS" theme. Most pinheads won't buy this machine as it is overpriced. Driven to the high price by KISS fans. Keep in mind, eBay Australia is not a useful tool in determining its value. I've seen junk KISS machines sold for $7000, and better machines for $2500. I am a self confessed MASSIVE KISS fan (just do a search on this site), and I have been since 1977. As a band, they have a huge fanbase in Australia. I am asked "Have you got a KISS for sale" at least once a week. Very sought after machine, but most machines are well worn these days. German KISS machines are in Australia, and are usually bought by fans that cannot afford the USA version.

By "Headboards" - do you mean backglasses ? The market is not as big as USA or Europe. Australians are more interested in GAMES. It is a buyer's market at the moment as supply is far greater than demand.

Nino is spot on about the kiss pinballs (definately the man to listen to). As for headboards if you mean backbones I have over a dozen hanging around my shed and friends games rooms but now with all the replacement boards they are a sad reminder of all the games I could have had  !!!

Thanks again ^^^

How about Williams ''Gorgar'' from 1979 ???

I have seen that a lot of you own this one.

Reason I ask becouse I just got offert 3 in 1 go.

Also I am looking at a ''old Chicago'' Bally

And picking up a ''dealers vhoice'' 1973 Williams this week (for my son to play on)
Someone has repainted the playfield by hand, but it still works great.

Gorgar is well liked in Australia for its art, its gameplay, plus it was the first pinball to speak.

I am guessing it was well played back in its day so people buy them for the memory, too.

I imagine if you brought in 3 x Gorgars you would have little trouble in moving any spare ones on.

Gorgars are one of the more desireable WMS SS games.

Fairly distinctive pinball with the artwork.
Also a lot of those old Bally's have very nice artwork, one of the things I always look for.

Hi all,

Ass you all know a lot of pinball machines come without keys.

I was thinking,is there a master key for the Bally/Williams/gotlieb EM's ?

Becouse I have to drill out the locks now,but think its a wast and want to keep the org lock.

Or is there some other way to get them open ???

If the game has its original locks and keys, and the key is missing, you have no choice but to drill out the coin door lock.

The headbox key will most likely be in the front door panel, near the leg bolt plate or tilt mechanism. Sometimes the headbox key is floating around inside the lower cabinet.

If a machine has been stored on it's back, you can sometimes find the front door key in the cabinet. Just put your hand in the space where the headbox cables route through to the head.

Some operators changed the locks and replaced them with a universal lock. So one key will open all their machines.

There was no factory "master key" for any manufacturer.

Locks are cheap, so it is always better just to drill them out.

Drilling it is.

The thing is,sometime I have to do it when the pinball machine is on the trailer (in the street).

I have to get the headbox off becouse my trailer only fit 2 with headbox, but 4 without.

Another way if the machine has a normal pinball lock is to put a flat screwdriver in the lock and use a shifter to turn the screwdriver.
You may have to rotate it back and forwards to get it started.
The insides of the locks are only thin brass plates and they strip very easy.
