Correct Leg length for 80s Williams Games (Firepower)
« on: May 03, 2011, 12:43:09 PM »
Hi,

Just wondering what the correct length legs are for 70s to 80s games such as my Firepower etc,

it currently has 790mm / 31in legs overall not including feet.

it now does seem a bit high after playing a more modern game like Getaway etc where the flipper buttons are waist high,

the Getaway has 720mm/28.5 inch legs but I guess the cabinets are way different shapes as well..

picture explains what I mean...

thoughts?

Hey Daniel,

I guess I better check im measuring them correctly,

is from the flat base to the tip above the holes correct?

they dont have any pressed ribs in them other than the corner is pressed rounded not a sharp folded angle.

if they are 31s no wonder it feels a bit high!

Your measuring right Pete from the base of the leg to the top the legs you have will be from an old gottlieb or similar

Mark C was selling the correct ones but has been out of stock for a long time . I am in need of 2 sets of these (28 1/2 inch non-ribbed) as well, but I don't think any of the sellers in Australia currently have any.

Another melbourne seller often has the ribbed ones on Ebay

Another option is PBR . (pinball resource in USA)

I just use the modern Williams 28.5inch legs they have a rib down the side but atleast there the right length.   I got a set of 31 inch legs Monte Carlo and the head was almost touching the Shed roof lol

I've ordered legs from PBR several times. They will cost you around US$150 for the shipment. The box fits 16 legs (4 sets) and is sent by UPS. USPS will be around the same price, but will take a bit longer to arrive.

I would email Steve at PBR to confirm, and really, it is only worth your effort if you need multiple sets. You can simply buy the WPC 28 1/2 ribbed legs locally and they will look fine.

Finally, there would be a good chance someone might want to swap your 31 inch legs for a set of 28 1/2 inch legs. I'd try that route first.

One 29&1/2 inch leg maybe it's custom for a really dodgy floor?

ok guys thanks for the info,

I was thinking of trying Markc to see if he had the right ones.

I have noticed the 28.5 modern legs for sale ,

probably wouldnt concern me too much if not original...

but it would be nice to have the original ones to suit the era of the machine,

but I guess bringing them from the states is Expensive,

possibly worth a group buy if 4 sets can be bought in  ? anyone keen ?

anyone looking for 31in legs?
