STTNG Advance rank from Neutral Zone?
« on: July 17, 2011, 01:58:49 PM »
Hi Guys,

Picked up a STTNG yesterday. My Girlfriend and I are big fans of ST so we love it. Just wondering if it's normal for the Neutral zone to often award the rank advance. If it's not normal, what would the problem be?

Cheers

No responses so I'll post my fix.

Turns out the middle target on the neutral zone had too much foam and sat a bit far back so the ball going into the NZ hole wasn't tripping the switch before it went in. Tripping the Middle NZ target is how the game differentiates between both holes.

Well I fixed it but it still isn't 100%.

I removed a lot of foam so the switch would be more sensitive, but now if I go hard on the pop bumpers it can vibrate and cause the switch to trigger.

On the flip side if you gently roll a ball into the NZ hole you can sneak in without triggering the middle switch and thus still cause the machine to think you got a command decision shot.

Bit more tweaking required I guess.

Does anyone who has this machine have any advice? Should the Middle switch be bent over so far as to partially obstruct the NZ hole thus forcing any shot to the hole to trigger it?

Cheers
