Cable tie fuse puller
« on: November 15, 2011, 11:17:21 PM »
I hate pulling fuses! ^.^

But to check them properly, they must be removed.
Usually I use a small screwdriver to pry them out but today I tried a different method, which worked pretty well. ()

Pictures are self explanatory.

Some close together fuses needed needlenose pliers to thread the cable tie,  but once the first fuse is out,  it gets easier to do the remaining ones by hand.

Note to self - Use a larger cable tie for WPC boards next time.  Those WPC fuse holders are pretty darned tight!

I know you can buy special fuse puller tools but what does everyone else use?

Plus, since the ties are plastic, a known insulator, you can pull fuses while the machine is ON and you won't even get shocked!  :D

But seriously, nice tip. I might even remember it.
I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here.

If you bend the end of the cable tie in a couple of places it will form a natural curve and be easier to thread through.
