Chroming coin door

Have some old Gottlieb cabinet parts like coin door and plate etc that I wish to have chromed. Can anyone recommend anyone in Vic? Is this expensive? Do they do prep like remove surface rust and paint?

Cost? After doing a lot of comparison shopping I have found that you get what you pay for. A cheap chrome plater will give basic results, whereas spend a little bit more and you will get a high polished showroom finish.

Most will do prep work and removal of surface rust/paint etc, but keep in mind the more time that needs to be spent by them in prep work, the more this will add to the overall cost. So if you want to keep costs down, do as much prior prep work yourself as practicable.

The plating itself is not the costly part, but the labour involved in polishing the chrome work to a mirror like finish.

Hi,

I got this done as a bulk lot of chrome work (doors, siderails, lockdown bars, backbox hinges, bolts etc) which brings the price down considerably so I don't really have an individual price per piece, sorry.

If I divided the total cost I would allow a rough guess as between 60-80 for the whole door which includes chroming and polishing the finished metal. (The back of the door is chromed as well).

Door must be free of any major dents/scratches.
Door must be taken apart into individual pieces by you beforehand (there are about 12 individual pieces to a B/W coin door).

That's AMAZING ! The coin doors look excellent. Chrome plating is affordable, and I think it has a place on DMD restorations.
