Wotto asked me for a review on my Dirty Harry Pinball, as he might be looking at one, and wanted some honest feedback.
ARTWORK.
I bought one apx 12 months ago, and paid around the $2200 mark for a real nice one. The idea is to try n find one with a really nice cabinet. The cabinet artwork on this title is what makes or breaks a good game. Overall the art package all around on Dirty harry is very cool. The translite looks 90 percent like the real Dirty Harry, so that in itself is close enough for most. The bullet holes and artwork all over the place give a nice touch.
PLAYFIELD
The playfield on the Dirty Harry has lots of toys, and plenty to do. The buildings/plastics/general bling are very very good for this title. Alot of thought has gone into the playfield on the game. The moving and shooting gun is a very big drawcard, because its the 357 magnum that Dirty Harry uses etc. There are plenty of targets to shooot for on the playfield, and overall, there are lots of shots.
GAMEPLAY
Gameplay on the Dirty Harry is very mission orientated, and the game is not a fast flowing game but a stop/start type of game. Definately mission based. There are lots n lots to do, and if the mission stop/start type of play suits your mood or your style, Dirty Harry is fun. Fast and open it is not. But having said that, sometimes u feel like a game that gives u work to do, and there is plenty of work to get on the Dirty Harry.
INSERT COLOURS/LOOKS/BLING/TOPPERS
I have purchased a set of handcuffs for a add on for my machine and have the hand cuffs hanging off the gun shooter, which is a good look. Also, the machine is very much suited to add LEDs anywhere u want. The colours of the inserts are suited for LEDs and the large inserts also offer plenty of LED type choices. There are plenty of colours on the playfield, and overall the machine is excellent to look at.
AUDIO
The audio on the Dirty Harry is a bit corny, but suits the game well. The audio cranked up is better than turned down. The background audio is nice, with lots of sound bytes incl Dirty Harry/Mr Eastwood himself. Again, everything on the Dirty Harry feels a bit stop/start incl the audio, but its a mission/stop/start style of game. Its a thinking game, that needs patience to play, and fast n flowing it is not.
OVERALL
If u had one machine only, Dirty Harry would not be the only one, but in a diverse collection, it is a real nice looking game, is still alot of fun, and look the goods. As long as u like mission styled stop/starty type games, this will suit. The eye candy is the biggest draw of this title, and the fact that it is built very well, very solid, with lots n lots to do. The dot matrix display works well, endless great graphics, plenty of video modes, and the video I have added shows the depth to this game, which becomes very apparent the more you watch and learn. A very solid start/stop game with lots of toys n missions. Have fun.
