X-men is the next title

Not a fan of X-men....is there a movie coming out?

There is another origins film( cyclops I think) on the horizon this year as well as another wolverine film slotted for next year or 2014.
First Class was easily the best X-men film, the rest apart from the original are pretty ho-hum.
It should be a good pin, lots to work with.

pulled this quote from pinside:

"X-men is next by Borg and has been confirmed. YES CONFIRMED!
Avengers is rumored to be after that by Gomez.

They wanted to get pics released by now but the AC/DC delay is preventing that. They want AC/DC out in the hands of the buyers before they release pics of X-Men. Now I'm hearing that pics won't be released until the first week of May."

Definately makes sense.

Borgs designs are usually on the money aboput 60 to 70 percent of the time.

Gomez designs have been also on the money the majority of the time, although I felt the Transformers LE extra playfield stuff was rushed/mediocre.

Gomez designs are >
Attack from Mars
Batman - Stern
48 - Stern
Corvette
Johnny Mnemonic
Monster Bash
NBA Fastbreak
Playboy® - Stern
Revenge From Mars
The Lord of the Rings - Stern
The Lord of the Rings (Limited Edition)
The Sopranos®  - Stern
Transformers - All 4 models

The battle here for Stern IF those two models (X-Men and Avengers) are getting made, will be a battle firstly over artwork. That will be the first decider for alot of collectors, followed closely by playfield design to tick all the boxes. I am hoping they are going to keep the Red LED dotmatrix for the Australian models and the audio upgrades.  When i emailed Stern and asked if these upgrades would continue, they nicely avoided the question, so only time will tell.  Exciting times ahead.  ^^^

I don't think any future titles will top ACDC - it'll be Stern's # 1 forever.

I hope you are right, even though on pinside reliable sources are saying X-Men I would prefer Avengers over it.

I think stern are wise to hold off info release so they can sell a heap of AC/DC's.

Let us know if you hear any more.

totally agree and maybe with the timing of WOZ coming out as competition maybe the quality and technology may change (for the better I hope).

I dont think we will see a new title coming out/ready for distribution from Stern for at least 3 to 4 plus months *minimum.

When it does come, it will be a cracker. Stern knows it has set the bar high with AC/DC.

AC/DC will take another 3 plus months before the production line even comes close to being free of Acca Dacca.

Isn't every 3-4 months the standard title release cycle anyway? - 3-4 titles per year equals 1 every 3 to 4 months.

As for the drawn out production cycle for ACDC, this was in my view entirely planned by Stern as a deliberate response to WOZ to draw as much attention away from JJP just as the WOZ production cycle was "ramping up" and the increased interest would boost sales over and above the LE 1000 and into the regular WOZ production run.

The first Pro's hit Aus in what January and it is now the end of April? Marketing 101 create a sense of urgency/demand with your consumer base by drip feeding product to them.

ACDC was always going to sell well given the pinball demographic, regardless of gameplay. As long as Stern included the standard core songlist as a soundtrack on permanent rotation, then gameplay will usually takes a backseat.

I've said it before, but 80% of the ACDC layout was already designed as a rejected Avatar template back in 2008. Not trying to be a downer to those who have laid out the cash for one, but it is what it is.

Stern wants to be the only kid on the block again, that way they can go back to cutting costs (plastic pegs) and effort (unfinished code). They know these LE prices are not sustainable amongst the home market in the long term, (for argument's sake to round out 2012 - Avengers, X-men and MIB LE versions at 9250 apiece who's buying?) but they need to squash their main opposition before they can.

In the meantime, squeeze what you can out of the home collector market until there is nothing left to squeeze.

The only positive I have found out all of this, is that it makes a restored Bally Williams A list title in the 6-7 range a bargain.  #@#

I meant production/release of the new models will be put back meaningly another 3 or more months, so a release is more likely to be 5 or 6 months away, if not more. Orders for AC/DC world wide are bigger than the last few models put together. Production of Pro machine has reached 700 ish already, then add the 500 combined LE's, then add in the Premium which should reach around 500 if it keeps selling like it has. Good numbers in a crappy world economy, and thats in the first 3 or 4 months.

I think the drawn out cycle for AC/DC was more to do with selling/moving as much Transformer stock as possible, plus using the time to get AC/DC 4 models right before release. Dont forget, there hasnt been a price increase at Stern for any Pro stock for over 3 plus models now, considering it is a flat worldwide market. Stern says it is trying to make machines more affordable, more attainable to more people. The price freeze has helped alot.
Big difference to most between $5950 and the std $6600 etc. Last Pro was $400 to $650 more, this AC/DC Pro is the lowest cost Pro to date, and probably the best with upgraded audio board and new LED red display. Stern has added value and decreased the purchase price at the same time. They have done well here.

The new Pro models at $5950 make older games look overpriced. We have all seen prices of older games dive.
Who knows what the future will hold, but I am hopeful that Stern is on the right track with Steve Ritchie settling for nothing but the best for the pinball customer. Exciting times ahead i am hoping/thinking.

If the AC/DC playfield was rejected before, it doesnt mean its not a excellent layout. Its one of the most functional and usable playfields I have played. Its a great layout.

I think you will find the cost cutting days are mostly numbered at Stern. AC/DC Pro might ? have proved that. Its more machine for less.
Stern had better be heading the right way after such a good effort with acdc. One would hope things keep getting better and better. I dont think they have far to go to be making great titles accross the board. As long as they listen to their customers.

Outside of Aus/NZ, ACDC is not selling quite as red hot as is being made out, particularly in the US which have the Pro's at an even lower price point than here in Aus (mid to low $4kUS).

As said before, it was expected that ACDC would be a strong seller in both Aus and NZ and that is where most of the collector money is tied up at the moment here in Aus. By comparison in the US, where ACDC sales would be considered lukewarm to moderate, there is currently a renewed interest and demand for classic B/W A list titles (CV,TOTAN,MB,MM and AFM et al). All of these titles are being listed on both ebay US and US based forums for good dollars (and they are getting those dollars too.)

A couple of auctions in the US to consider:

Here is your market for an MM in the US currently:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/190668457525?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619

Here is one for CC:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item2c639df25a&item=190649856602&nma=true&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&rt=nc&si=mqlnmVjYH3j29wCM5X4ALUNRw9k%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Here are a couple for AFM:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=140738822697&nma=true&rt=nc&si=oyWcF1%252B1ZR0rM%252F8hMqJM7mQepis%253D&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

We'll see where this one ends up:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221006422627?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

There are a couple of others for a TOTAN and CV which sold at $7k each but these were on US based pinball forums so I won't link to them out of courtesy.

Putting it another way, US collectors are being given a choice of $4200 for a NIB ACDC or a used in good condition 15 year old B/W title for almost double that and they are opting for the latter?  #*#

Once the hype dies down for Stern's latest, and the bank accounts start to replenish we'll see similar price movements here.  ()

Gomez designs are >
Attack from Mars
.. .. ..

48 - Stern

Brian Eddy would have something to say about that - far as I  know Gomez had nothing to do with AFM.

What is 48??
