Got My grail today.
« on: April 27, 2012, 09:01:50 PM »
wooohooo. i was lucky enough to be offered two very very very fine Swords of fury machines, went to look at one today, got offered one from Beaky who i knew had a great machine. had organised to check this machine out a few weeks ago, but had a wcs for sale i needed to move first, didnt think i would sell in time to get the machine i was anitially looking at and beaky made a good offer to sell his, however went to look at this other machine today and was hoping it wouldnt be worth buying as i did want to take beaky's sof off his hands, however i couldnt walk away from it, the machine is very nice. big thanks to beaky for the offer as he only wanted to sell to get me the grail machine i have wanted for ages, think that is a very nice gesture and i almost took him up on it. anyways really stoked with the purchase, heres some pictures. man i forgot how fast this game is, those slingshots are deadly lol.
never been sited and has pinscore led display added
these are all the picks i have for it atm, will take more when it arrives next week.
edit: it was sited for a few days when used in a pinball comp in the usa, still has the competition tag lol

im also contemplating clearing the playfield, as the playfield is mark free but has had mylar from new id like to have the awesome cleared look, wondering who is the best man for the job on this front?? as this is a machine i will be keeping id love to go to the effort.

Excellent stuff.. well done mate!

On the clear side... game has factory mylar already and looks to be in very good condition. Only remove Mylar if you have to.. there are no guarantees that the artwork underneath will remain intact.. once you start, you cant stop, so its a decision that should be weighed up carefully.
removing Mylar is always a bit of a gamble

I agree with Gav, Sys 11 nd Mylar removal don't go together. Very high risk of ruin.
Mylar can be polished with a treasure cove kit to a nice shine.

Nothing like landing a grail game. Played a SoF a couple of years ago and really liked it. Loved the shots to the left, especially the horseshoe one.

yer that horse shoe can bite you in the arse, it shoots back rather fast when you get a good smack at the ball and goes through it. as its so dark on the playfield you can loose ball uptop of playfield and when it reappears you see the ball pretty late, yer i dig this title, have wanted it since i first got into pinball, seems like a funny grail machine actually lol.

oh and thanks for comments every one. ill post some better pics up when i receive the pin.

Well done on the pin too!

El_Timbo would be the best person to consult re the playfield if you are intent on getting it CC'd.

cheers mate, yer the mylar isnt a problem on this machine but ive seen some clear coated play-fields and seeing im planning on keeping the pin im considering an option i wouldn't usually worry about. it does concern me about removing mylar, seeing the play-field is great i recon it would look awesome clear coated. i was hoping there is a specialist to do this sort of thing removing mylar and clear coating, it isnt something i would try my self as outlined above. but if people think its not something i should get done i might not bother but if some one specializes in this who is very reputable then id be very interested. im really wanting a top grade machine and having a clearcoated machine would look insane on this machine. i will take all the advice into consideration so its all helpfull

Under rated game. I have always wanted one of these, but they are hard to track down. I rate this alongside Black Knight as a player. Everything about the game is great - The art, the theme and the rules. Well done on securing this title.

Regarding the Mylar - Don't do it ! Factory mylar on sys 11 games are a nightmare to remove and will end in tears. El_Timbo would be the best person to do the CC should you decide to go down that track.
