G'day all, Cliff here in Mackay QLD.
« on: September 23, 2008, 09:29:25 PM »
Hello all and its good to here,

Have you guys seen Cliffys Jumping Jack Resto pics on his web site. I wish I had his talent with the paint brush.
Makes me want to attack my 73 King Pin playfield.

By the way, for the record Iam not him, I have chatted to him a while back and he's a nice gentleman.

LMK of you need the link.

Hypothetically speaking, whould there be much interest out there for our own pinball expo on say Hamilton Island or Long Island etc.
Make a nice weekend of pinny heaven I am sure...

Chill...
Cliff ;D

Welcome Cliff - and yes I saw that resto on RGP yesterday and commented to one of our members, Gavin (retropin), who is also a very keen playfield restorer. Playfield restoration is a skill that I'm fascinated with, and I will be devoting time to learning these skills over time.

BTW - Wait until Gavin gets time to post some of his work... when he decides to stop buying more machines  :D

Enjoy the forums, Cliff !

Well,
Yep Melbourne is obvious because it is the centre of the pinny universe but thinking out of the square.... why not go to a Whitsunday island just full of pinball machines, sun and sand and booze 24/7. If not Hammo, then South Molle (just the right size and room for this sort of thing). They already have a few pinnys, last time I was there was a TAF and Roadshow.
Also, no having to drive home, just flake on the beach, no cops or fines, nice looking broads. ()
Also, it close to my place!!!

Ah yes... South Molle Island - I went there as a child... They had an EM - "Fandango"... %.%

I think an Expo in Australia would be great. We did have a very small one 4 years ago here in Melbourne. It was a small Hall hired out, but it was a fun day all the same.

Yep,
I went along with Rawdon Osbourne (flew from Sydney and back while clutching a King Pin BG I scored, carry-on) and met up with Chris Soulidis A&FPW.
Stayed the night at Del's place (Bumper Action), the friday night fun night was great.

Met Wayne on the day and got a few parts. Quite a unique gathering of enthusiasts pins and vids. From memory Wayne had an FH, MM on sale/display amongst others along.
It was a good and appreciative turn-out but (as always) could have been a bigger event but insurance, marketting, the site and financials, parking and its coordination gets more difficult and expensive just for a day or two. I came away clutching my prized GTB KP backglass so it was worth it.

A year earlier, Chris and I were in a pub together in Sydney having a chat and we talked about the idea for the event, Chris ran with it and organised the event with another friend of his, I can't recall the name but a great guy.

I miss Chris' A&FPR mag.

Cheers all,
Cliff. :D

Oh,

And the Museum, I can't wait for this. I recall that Lee was doing the repairs and resto work. How is it progressing and has the sceduled opening been decided yet?
Does anybody in the group know if ChrisS or RawdonO are on this Forum?

cheers...cliff
