It is all about perceived value.

The pain and damage to one's ego of being a poor player and having a short game can be alleviated somewhat by having an unrelated reward that goes with it (the ticket dispenser/choose your cheap novelty toy off the shelf idea).

That will turn the novices into repeat players and coming back for more.

Forget about the pro player, the pro player will decide within one game whether the machine meets his/her expectations and either continue to feed money or walk away never to return. The onsite pin market needs to attract new blood to survive long term.

Swinks, Freiherr - your ideas are terrific, but you are talking innovation here - a bit of a dirty work around Stern it seems. Be keen to hear the response you get to the email Swinks.

I particularly like the choice of easy or difficult rule sets and the "Quick Tour" button - both great ideas.

You can see why video killed pinball so much easier to follow as all info and game play is on the screen right in front of you not the table and the DMD , once your blown up in video then it flashes player 2 very easy to follow but pinball is deeper in rules and then ball saves and so on maybe on sited games turn ball save off I would.
P:s avengers does not look boring.

could be as simple as

Ball save - lights stay on

Next Player - lights go totally out after the ball drains and a next player flash on the dmd


not hard, come on Stern

bet JJP has all this with his lcd as heard he will have instructions, Stern will do it................................................................................ after JJP does

Stern will wait until JPP have implemented the innovation. But it would be great to see.

For me, pinball is about flipping a ball around a playfield and hitting things. This is almost a natural thing. not hard to master, and my kids could play pinball at age 3 and they understood the concept. The NEW games are a challenge when you first play them, but after a few games, you pick up the features that make that game unique.

What about an operators CODE and a home use CODE? home code deeper and ops code much easier with some on screen prompts.

Another great idea!! Or do they expect the ops to keep using the shipping code which always seems weak, and the HU will do updates?

More choice to the player would be a move in the right direction. The operator and manufacturer could then analyse the stats and see what the popular choices are. Another area for improvement and which has been covered in other posts is in keeping the player informed.
I keep looking at the cheap apron area of a modern day pinball and always think to myself what a waste of valuable real estate. With todays technology and as little as $50 at manufacturing stage, the apron is an ideal area to keep players informed. I could cast my eyes anywhere on the playfield during play and very easily see information in the apron.

Love the idea of it......but something about the Hulk does not look right to me. I think its the expression. Not quite right? Maybe its just me.......

Love the idea of 3 seperate layers though.  ^^^

The red bricks spoils it for me, can't imagine it will suit any of the backbox / translite artwork

Also i think you right about his face, looks like he has suffered a stroke lol
