For those that like new cars
« on: July 26, 2012, 08:37:58 PM »
I'm pretty excited to have the (we think) first Subaru BRZ registered in the country (aside from the dealer demos last week).

I've been a huge Subi fan for years, and when this project was announced a few years ago, I really hoped it would go ahead, but wasn't confident it would get past the proto stage. Toyota stepped in and bought a chunk of Subaru to get in on this project, and it sells the same car as the "86".

Subaru only had 201 cars for this year, and sold them on line last Monday in a couple of hours. There were 27 pre-orders taken (including mine) before they stopped taking them, so I was lucky.

A pure sports car - not particularly fast (fast enough) but the handling is better than anything I have driven - including 911s (not younger than 10 years mind you, they are better now), and better than the Lotus Elise I had for a short stint.

I am mate!

Congrats on your purchase Nick.

Not sure the yearly premium, but it was only $80.00 more than the car it replaced, so doesn't look like too bad - took my insurer most of yesterday to be able to change the cover over as they didn't have the car on the underwriter's books!!

Nick, I will give u a drag race in the Prius V 7 seater.lol   Something tells me I might get beaten.lol

Well done on the new car. Take some photos of the inside and maybe the dashboard instruments etc.  It looks nice. Is it 4 wheel drive or rear wheel drive. No one knows much about this model. Its been kept under wraps. Do they make it in other colours, or is it midnight black (assuming yours is black).  What motor does it have etc. You wet our appetite, us revheads need to know more.lol

Congrats Nick, looks really nice.

Have only had Subaru's since 1995, will not buy anything else. Usually change my cars over every three years, but finding it hard to let go of my Liberty GT Sti.

That's awesome mate, have 2 subi's myself. Great car.

A mate of mine couple of years ago imported 3 x drift spec subi's just for rallying (we weren't able to rego them) boy they were awesome, like on rails in the bush.

Is it a boxer motor?

congrats on the new car. We were at Toyota  and checking out the 86 the other day.
Super low centre of gravity, a proper sports car in every way. Thek BRZ is similar.
Here is a good write up on the two.... not a bad price either...
