You could check the 5v on the sound board. System 80 can have problem with the variable resistor on the power supply which when faulty can can make the 5v go up to 7-8volts and weird problems will occur. Also worth reseating the connectors as Daniel mentioned. System 80 can also have other problems due to grounding issues on the boards so might have to also check this.

also on the board you guys are saying is power supply board, what are those little square red buttons? they look like little push switches?
