Best features introduced and on what game?

What is best feature introduced to pinball and what game were they introduced on?

I.e flippers, Humpdy Dumpty

Meteor, had high score shown to players when u lost the second last ball, so you were remind what you needed to get..

Gorgar had Speech

Etc etc etc

I loved 'lane change', it was introduced with FirePower, it made raising the end of ball bonus multiplier so much easier and was great for raising the royal flush jackpot on Alien Poker which could seriously boost your score.

Black Knight 1980.
Multi level playfield, magna save, timed target banks, mystery bonus ramp.
Yes, the multi ball was not as clean flowing and it was a challenge to control both playfields at the same time but for raw 'against the machine' experience nothing at the time stacked up against BK.
The lighting, sound, voice, crowd cheer and whistle, horse hoofs, pulsating lights and mexicanwave score displays made this machine a true joust experience.
Oh, did I forget the bell!

"Shoot again' feature 1st introduced on Gottllieb's Thoro Bred in 1965 (my current project game) , far as I am aware.
I need more room ! and more $$$

Speech!  Arrived with Gorgar but the first SS I ever played was Alien Poker which also had speech. I was about 10 years old at the time and I thought going from 'ding ding ding' to the game actually being able to speak was about as amazing as the first moon landing!

In 1978, Williams released Phoenix Pinball machine, and the machine was super bright pink with super bright yellows n red colours etc.

Does anyone know if this was a feature that was new to pinball compared to the previous offereings that seem to be much less in your face with the very soft pastel colours that were on pinnys before say Phoenix was released ?

Was this machine a turning point with colours being extremely brighter to attract newer players/kids etc and did Williams make super bright colours a feature on pinballs by going this way with the head to toe superbright in ya face more modern colours ?

Anyone who knows pinball machines during the entire 1970's might be able to answer this one for us all.....if it is correct, then it means colours were used as features to attract new generations ?  it would also mean that not all features were toys or bells or whistles, but just a rehash of the basics to make a big visual difference ?  Can anyone shed any light on this one for me please ??  !@#

Williams Superstar, Gulfstream and Travel Time from 1972/73 were some machines with specific colour and art which are etched in my mind all those years. Their art and graphics were not to everyone's tastes but they certainly fit an era when LSD and LED were popular.

Super Star was a game that really stood out. Williams Triple Strike was also an eye catcher.
