Thankyou for your thoughts and feelings.  Hopefully i am just looking for a needle in a hay stack and not a whole new transformer.  Best of luck with your machine.

Start measuring stuff - you will NEVER get it fixed unless you master your meter. It isn't rocket science - it is basic electronics that can easily be learned.

Your machine will be up and running in no time if you apply yourself.

I think Mike is trying to tell us something here, but can't put my finger on it. Haha

Blair, I might have to call on a favour when you've fixed your machine and I source a new transformer (next time you're over this way).

A night of playing the pinball machines has given me weeks of fun and exciting pinball chores. Maybe this time I might focus on getting one machine up to speed per week?

Cheers!
Adam.

Problem solved.  Thanks everyone for your input.

This was a German machine that had some weird and wonderful wiring.  Anyway, Mike hinted to check the transformer with a DMM.  I did that which confirmed that there was no power at all there.  Thanks to a schematic that was sent to me, I was able to fumble through it and long story short, found a green and black wire was not connected to the purple wires it should have been.  One of the wires had pulled out of the wire connector I had them in enough to break contact.

Anyway, the machine is alive and I am happy once again.

SUGGESTION

If anyone finds a good you-tube tutorial on how to use a multi meter, it might be a good idea to post a new thread so people who are not experienced with the use of a multi meter can learn some tricks of the trade. Just a thought.

Great news. Always nice to find a non expensive fix.

"let the games begin" , "play ball" , or something like that...cant think of any other cheesy quotes at this time of the morning..
