Jukebox help required!!!!
« on: June 08, 2013, 09:19:09 PM »
Does anyone out there own a Rowe Tropicanna?    I'm seriously ready to push this piece of shit in front of a bus..

I've grabbed the manual from work but turns out there were 2 variations on the selector unit it has a picture of both but only the postion setting for the one I don't have.   I managed to now at least have it selecting the right numbers but letters are still out.

If A1 was pressed E1 would play.  Simple move the letter selecter a couple of notches WRONG!!!

Doing that i got close but at the last option it now won't accept any records.

If anyone has one of these I'd love a photo of there selector unit or even any around this age so I can find a manual with the right info in it?

  Thanks

Hi Daniel.

I've got a '63 JAL 200.

Also used two different types of the search unit according to the manual.

Can post photos if it might help.

Steve.

Hi Steve
My machine has the search unit with only one connecter running across the top.   My manual shows the setting for the search plate with 3 connectors which does your manual have?

Daniel - Can you post a picture of the selector unit and I'll see if I have one spare ?

Send to my email address if you like.

I know there might be a selector unit or a credit unit, but I'm not sure if it is for the Tropicana or the Continental II.

Daniel,
i had a very similar problem with my ROWE... would select the record either side of what i wanted and for the life of me i couldnt get it to select exactly where the choice was. The fault in the end was not with the rotory unit but further up the line in the actual record selector itself.. namely at the buttons. Its a real pain to work on but its path to ground was faulty. The whole key selector unit comes out.. its this that triggers the coil that stops either the letter or the number selected.
This is of course assuming that the wipers on the rotory unit are all OK..
