a mod for the games room for a particular machine for a comp so everyone can see the screen and it has been commented that you could replace your dmd with a screen (if it fits) - could be handy for the large screen sega's and also able to adjust colours displayed on the tv monitor.

a few people are even placing mini screen on the apron displaying the dmd info there.

I agree with Homepin doing these as it is often the reason people don't want to buy the large screen pins so pulls the value down

This mod could be cool but with the lcd monitor change the screen colours to shades of blue

What a great idea, might be a bit of a job to fit an lcd into a machine.
A lot less expensive than a colour DMD

The large screens on the Sega's rarely ever fail....... the replacement cable for apx $15 plus postage is always the answer.

I am investigating n playing with adding a second red dmd display to add as a topper on say acdc pro or x men pro etc....it will be identical to what comes out of stern for both machines. people can stand back n watch the extra dmd on the game up high or look at the original lower factory screen.

a cheap cool mod u never see done anywhere. or not yet by me.....think it would look cool if done right on any stern or dmd machine.....

opinions anyone ?

I got one of those cables and it was dodgy and the problems lay else where

I think all dmd's are subject to issues at some stage in their life and probably depends on how long they were left on. It's just crap that a whole pin with a big dmd maybe $2k market value and the replacement dmd is $500 after freight = 1/4 of the price of the pin which is just crazy.

Check out the video cavey at the beginning of this thread and that's what the guys are doing with this mod have a monitor to the side / on top with and will be cheaper that a dmd I am sure.

Pity they arent supporting the small Data East dmd's yet, they are impossible to find

he said this

Using 16:9 4.3" car reversing camera screens, I created a bespoke bezel with magnetic mounts to attach to the apron. It worked well for a few machines, but not all aprons are suited to the installation. Have a look on eBay for the screens as they're pretty cheap and you can use the Extender to drive one on the apron or as part of the playfield...

here is a install link for Data east / sega / bally / williams and Stern

Neat trick. Ive been considering doing just this on our demo videopin. Instead of printed instruction sheets, using LCD photo frames on each side of the physical apron.

I'm sorry I don't get it. I don't look at the dmd much and usually after a ball loss so why would someone prefer to look at the apron during game play?
