In all honesty mate.. if you are going to reproduce parts that aren't available then you may as well go the whole hog..1950's red 2" flipper bats although available from PBR are not as good as the original as they don't have the marbelling effect through them.. woodrail hollow posts you cant get.. in fact you cant get ANY good reproduction parts for woodrails because none have the marbelling through them..ALL are solid colour. lane guides.. posts.. shrouds.. rollover buttons.. all are a second best.
All of these parts were made from approx 1945- 1948 onwards..PBR bought the tooling but didn't faithfully reproduce the plastic as its too expensive.. 3D printing makes this possible. I say go for it  and be the first but many will follow as reproduction will soon be in the hands of many.

Thanks for the kind words guys, much appreciated.

Gav

I am all for modelling the parts and believe I am capable in doing so as well as proto-typing parts but doubt PLA will be suitable for impact parts but they are working on lots of new materials now. Also the marble effect could not be achieved by the current printing process or materials though I am working on a project that may well may be able to head in this direction but that is 6-12months away if it works - entering new grounds.

Hopefully with support with people buying these parts I can grow this venture into something where I can invest in other machinery and turn it into a business that I can look after my family but I am a long way off that.

Also with your last comment about many will follow - I am working towards a few developments attempting to be innovative with the goal of 6 -12 months with the vision to try and be in the leading pack. So head down, bum up.

Below are the prices for the shrouds with the models loaded up at Shapeways and I can print them in a glossy white. I have gone away from time based pricing and gone for a similar volumetric pricing model to try and lower the price with out being a charity as at the end of the day I need to earn a little bit of money. At the moment I am treating this as a hobby so the prices are as listed to cover the material and equipment so use the figures in Red as your purchase guide. So if you are interested just shoot me a PM and I can have them made next week and posted out by the end of the week.

Bally Small Light Shroud - Original
Shapeways  -  price for polished white is $10.77 USD each
3D printing in a gloss white - is $9.22 Aus each (including GST is $9.99)

Bally Small Light Shroud - Upgraded
Shapeways  -  price for polished white is $10.67 USD each
3D printing in a gloss white - is $9.12 Aus each (including GST is $9.88)

Bally MediumLight Shroud - Original
Shapeways  -  price for polished white is $13.64 USD each
3D printing in a gloss white - is $11.78 Aus each (including GST is $12.76)

Bally Medium Light Shroud - Upgraded
Shapeways  -  price for polished white is $13.53 USD each
3D printing in a gloss white - is $11.68 Aus each (including GST is $12.65)

postage is extra but pretty sure it is around the $8 including a small box for 1 - probably 10 items.

Signing off if this price is too much then I will not be proceeding with many more parts and focusing more on my other project but I hope people can see the value compared to a hack component…. I will leave it with you and thanks for reading and your support.

This is one item I can model, print a block type one for testing but too many over hanging edges to be able to print a nice one so this will be one for my Shapeways store.

I have sent the pictured sample as a test piece only (very light weight internally) but hope to make these available soon as well.

Nino received his bally shrouds and installed into the Fathom restore and was very happy with them.

These are absolutely amazing. They look great as a replacement set for the old cracked originals. I wanted holes in the design because some of the shrouds are too close for a staple gun, and after installing them, they LOOKED neater.

Well done Jady. I've placed a second order.  ^^^

This bell shaped spacer, used on a lot of Bally machines
a solid shape (but with a mounting hole) that does not dig into the playfield would be great
I would make it to fit the hole, no need for it rivetpressed to the plastic
