he has completed 2 restores and a third just rocked in this week - here is a photo of number 2 leaving and number 3 ready for a restore.

he also said he will be doing a video of the differences and another guy stated his sound was more junglish and the video in the first post was more rock n rollish so seems to be some variances.

Re: King Kong - Restoration series of HEP's 3rd King Kong

stated by Chris

Here is the direct link to the playlist of the incoming King Kong project. This series will cover the restoration of the game which looks to include full Mylar removal, insert repair, cabinet repair and painting, parts fabrication and much more.
Probably going to be a slow mover through here as these types of projects normally are but worthy of the effort and documentation. The set up is more timed to the outgoing King Kong than this games arrival but in the interest of comparing the two makes sense.

and for those that venture to Pinside here is his thread

I just thought this was a interesting game and a rare opportunity to learn a little bit about a rare pin for those interested.

I can't remember if I had a second thread for the restoration of Hep's 3rd King Kong - but thought may as well post info here.

photos diary of the restore here

this one is apparently different in alot of ways to the others…, for those going to pinside they can check out the restore thread.

Man that looks like a lot of fun, fairly easy game though by the looks of it.
Loved the animated Kong fists on the sling shots and the air ball into the gate at the rear.
Love BTTF but I think this would have had more appeal to me.
If it isn't broke, it isn't pinball.

I love this thread.

I just nicked that King Kong photo (2 x machines side by side) for my computer screen when in stand-by mode.

They probably needed restoring cause some people just don't look after things properly, and if u were going to spend the money on a restore, it would be a KING KONG for sure.

I would buy that machine in a heart-beat. I like all the rare n not known machines, they play the best n they are sooo much better vaue than over-rated 8 to 10 grand late model boring ballys...

Nice machines hey. Good posting Jady(Swinksy).  ^^^

Only 9 made but 3 have needed restoration??

US sellers use who it was restored by as a selling point in order to get a premium price.

HEP caters to the high end pinball buyer demographic and typically takes the resto to well beyond NIB factory standard.

I would love a king kong, looks cool and looks like a good game to play, a shame they didn't make more.

I thought I read that pinball memories brought one in for someone ….. not sure how correct that is but lucky guy who ever got it….
