« on: April 08, 2009, 06:13:41 PM »
i just received my new Universal Willem EPROM Programmer today
i was so excited when i opened the box.
i found 1 pcb
1 usb cable
1 parallel port cable
1 27256 blank eprom ( this will be very usefull for my williams pins)
but no software cd.
dam idiots forgot to pack one with it, it came from china so i have to wait another week for the software.
dont you hate it when something important is left out?
not bad for $47 au including postage.

Can't you download the software?

And did you get this off eBay?

just fired it up and it works very well  $#$
definitely worth the money i paid.
and the software that is made for it is so easy to use
it has little pictures on how all the jumpers and dip switches are supposed to be set for the chip you are programing and which socket to plug the chip into.
and if you need an adaptor for the chip you are using it tells you the part number and shows how and where to connect it. what a ripper

One can still purchase a PCI card with a parallel port, for under $30. It would also be interesting to know whether a USB to parallel port converter cable would do the trick or not - I am suspicious that it might not.

Edited for clarity - I was referring to Daniel's question.

Yep, same seller as the link I found. Apparently you can now get Willem programmers (latest version) that program over USB, not just are powered by USB. Helpful for those with too modern a computer.

I have the same eprom eraser as well.  It came with a plug (travel) adaptor so that you dont need to replace the plug.
