What are you currently listening to ?
« on: April 24, 2009, 08:58:44 PM »

Inspired by a recent pillage of my CD collection, and a recommendation from Tony (Illawarra) to listen to some newer titles, I've been spending plenty of time listening to music lately !

So what are you peeps listening to while repairing / shopping / playing your pins (or driving in the car) ?

Here's mine;

American Soldier - Queensryche (Thanks Tony - I'm right into them again) - A really great progressive rock/metal band with a killer new album

Mindcrime at the Moore - Queensryche - The complete "Operation Mindcrime" album performed live. WOW

The Best of Both worlds - Van Halen - "Greatest hits" - just some old school 80's classics

Alive! - KISS - Best live album of all time - Favorite album of all time, just defies "time" - I love listening to this album !

Rock and Roll Over - KISS - Awesome 70's Hard Rock. KISS at their best.

A Change of Seasons - Dream Theater - Not an album, but their "single" - which runs for 23 minutes !

So I guess you can see my influences, and what I listen to when I'm working on pins.

What's in your CD player when you are in the garage ?

I usually have the radio on WS FM (Sydney) who play 70's 80's and 90's music.. Fri and Sat nights is mostly Disco stuff but the music fits the Pin era .
As my 2 teenagers daughters say "your so gay Dad !"
I need more room ! and more $$$

At the moment, Saxon's Lionheart  in the car & Ted Nugent's Weekend Warrior  in the shed.
Might have to dig the Queensryche out again .
I've only got one of their albums 'Empire' . How 'bout the start , the answering machine  "sorry, I'm just.... it's starting to hit me like a.. um a .... two tonne heavy thing' !! then the power chords . Awesome those guy's rock.  ^^^

As Molly Meldrum used to say - "Do yourself a favor..."

Empire was an incredible release - "Silent Lucidity" is an all time favorite of mine - sometimes reminds me of "Comfortably Numb", as does "Lifting Shadows off a dream" by Dream Theater.

"American Soldier" is VERY much like "Empire", but is more of a Concept album, like "The Wall".

Seems there is a lot of love for Pink Floyd, and to cover one of their songs would be insanely difficult for any other bands other than DT or queensryche - So here's the both of them together covering "Comfortably Numb"
