Stencil help

Just attempted my first stencil using frisket as the stencil material, left the paint about ten minutes and removed the stencil only to find the edges of the paint lifted.
Paint was dry to the touch but obviously not hard question is did I remove it to soon or should I leave it longer.

Chances are that either the surface wasn't prepped right and so the paint wont stick ( Prepsol is good for this.. can add it to the paint also if using enamel).. or... you oversprayed and the paint makes a  skin that  covers the edges of the mask. if this happens then there is no real line where edge of frisket meets PF and so you end up pulling up some of the edges.
What type of paint were you using?

Rattle can acrylic, yeah I would have sprayed over the edges as the stencil has some small areas.
Any tips appreciated

Always pull the frisket off in a direction parallel to the mask line, if you do it at angles you have a high chance of lifting the paint

Always go light.. fine spray to seal the edges and another fine spray once that's dry. If you try and fill a colour then youll spray too much and lose the integrity of the stencil edge. Often, it looks like you don't have enough colour to cover whats underneath but invariably, that's not the case.. your eyes lie to you when stencilling

When it's only just touch dry
If you leave it too long you can chip the edges

Problems with rattle cans is that they spew out the paint and its impossible to control the flow. Because the arc of paint is so wide its tempting to get closer to the PF in order to stop overspray.. this is when the paint becomes too thick.
its better to mask of everywhere that doesn't require the touch up and hold the can quite far back so a fine mist can be achieved.
You might be doing this already so I apologise if im teaching you to suck eggs... if not then youll get much better results this way.
if you haven't got an airbrush ( dual action) then rattle cans are your only option, but they can be quite troublesome
