That looks awesome Dan! How do you find all this stuff?

For Australasia except Queensland, wonder what the banana benders did to deserve that back in 1890!  :lol

That is beautiful , Wow
Do you know the correct colours? , really nice job on the paint as it is though
There was a few  of these at Echuca in Vic , The cards were worn down on one side i remember , Could be fixed with a little edge of Mylar maybe.
Hope you can find the right cards , or other sets of cards , just make more "Toppers"  %.%
 Nice find Daniel .
These games were all  badly worn out by Queenslanders on holidays   &&
Drinkin beee !  and grinding the handle...

Yes called into the penny arcade in Echuca I can't help myself.  They have an identical mutoscope to mine except it's missing the stand and the marque from the top.  They also have a couple of the tins cases ones aswell.

Was it converted to power ( a lightbulb?) later on or do you think it was standard?
If standard then 1895 is very very early in the days of domestic power supplies... the lightbulb as a commercial invention was in its infancy and some cities in Australia didn't have electricity in 1895.
It is a wonderful piece and ive longed for one for many years but came to the conclusion that id never own one due to price and rarity. I didn't know until I saw this one that Australia made their own!
So in that respect, it is rarer than the ones ive often drooled over.
Amazing and its now the one piece of your collection id like to own the most.

...BTW - the Charlie Chaplin card reels are still quite readily available ( well compared to the smut variety).. they are not that cheap to buy but you can still get ones of a more adult nature... some are very hardcore!
