Line Fuse

Today I replaced the Shooter Lane Coil on my Williams Getaway.
The lugs where a little doggie so I replaced it with a new coil of same  part number.
When I powered the machine up and did a coil test the coil was not energizing and It blew the line fuse.
I found that I put the wires back to front on the shooter coil.
Flipped the wires around and replaced the line fuse, problem gone.
Would that have bean the cause of the line fuse bowing. ??

Im guessing a diode either accross the coll or one  connected to it.
Coils with diodes will pop a fuse if not connecred the right way around

I would not think the mains fuse would blow due to a coil being the wired incorrectly. The fuse associated with that circuit would blow, and or the driver transistor.

I think it was a coincidence.

The line fuse on my Getaway is rated at 8.A sl-bl but it had a 4A and that was the one that blew.
I replaced it with a 5.A. sl-bl
Witch rating fuse would be recommended ?

The 8 amp will be for 110 vac supply.
A lot of people don't check this as it's quite common for export pins to have the higher fuse rating as they were used in the states on 110 vac.

Check the manual - should be 4A SB or 5A SB

Domestic Game 8A, N.B.
Foreign Game 4A, S.B.

Just wanted to be sure that I am putting in the right value fuse.
