New (old) Boat
« on: June 28, 2016, 07:45:38 PM »
Not for everyone but thought I would share because I'm pretty happy about it.
I love old stuff, I love pinball and I love fishing. Got a few old pinnies and now I got an old boat. Some of you might remember the old savage Dolphin made in Williamstown Victoria and used most commonly as a "daylight hours only hire boat" for fishing.
I picked up this 1975 Dolphin about a month ago and have been working on it flat out getting it ready for the up coming snapper season. I will be launching it in the next couple of weeks and it will live on a swing mooring at Williamstown about 10 minutes drive from my house, all I have to do is drive down park and row out in my little tender.
I have installed led lighting, rod holders,gps/fish finder, small bbq and full double bunks for overnight trips. I had the original Nanni 10.5 hp diesel inboard serviced by a diesel mechanic who reported it to be in excellent condition with full compression.
Cant wait to get it wet ^^^

Nice one. I used to get out on the bay a bit courtesy of a mate that used to be into his boats. Miss that.

That's an awesome story. Fishing was a pastime I enjoyed when I once had a pastime. Loved boats, but never got around to buying one etc etc. I remember hiring similar boats in Mordialloc years ago.

I still love beach fishing - especially Salmon. Still have a custom rod (double spined) and Abu 6500 reel. But the best fishing was always from a boat. Hopefully you have a good Snapper season  ^^^
