Brand New Vinyl Play Table Artwork Reproductions
« on: June 03, 2017, 02:00:07 PM »
Anyone interested in brand new reproduction vinyl play tables stickers. Im talking about one full colour complete sticker with a clear mylar contact as the final finish. (two layers) I would need your old existing worn table (stripped) to complete the service. (You apply the new sticker and cut the holes) Is anyone offering this service yet?  Im not looking at making a huge profit, just enough to cover the costs and a better way of fixing worn tables without paint.
Thought? Links? Anybody?

I've always wondered if this would be a feasible method... if you do experiment with it please share the results :)

No samples as yet. Just thowing the idea around with a mate in the print industry. Only issue I can see is (splice/star)- roll overs. The fine points of the star would lift. I had a look online at the screen printing method. They look super but are really expensive.

Here's a link to what is available on Ebay !

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KISS-Pinball-Machine-Playfield-Overlay-UV-PRINTED-Clear-Inserts-DIE-CUT-/302245115239

Looks that they are printed on clear vinyl allowing for playfield insert lighting. Personally I have seen a 'KISS' overlay before and they do look good.
I have successfully scanned small areas, created artwork in CAD software and printed on clear vinyl in the past to repair areas. Would be a challenge and very labour intensive to create the artwork for a full play field layover. Not sure how you would go with copy right with certain pinball brands.

I'm sure you would create alot of interest for selected titles. ^^^

That link is exactly what I was thinking of doing. My retail would be about the same after costs. I don't see a issue doing pin companies that no longer exist.

Nothing to do with the pin companies not existing. It's more to do with the company that owns the license for the artwork.
And yes someone probably owns that license.

What if the artist is dead?  !@#
I wonder if other people doing reproductions have seeked permission regarding copyright. Insert the "Mona Lisa" here. Nothing stopping me producing a repo for myself. Selling them is a different scenario. I will use the Barter system. You can pay in cartons of beer or bourbon!

Rick from Planetary own the rights to Bally / WMS and Steve from PBR owns the rights has the main rights to Gottlieb.

Would you be be redoing the art via Corel or Illustrator of scan and reprint?

Scan then use Illustrator to fix the worn areas. Then print.
