vinito from Oz...
« on: November 24, 2008, 05:36:09 PM »
... Oz in Kansas, USA that is.
Tornado alley. Crazy folks that we are, usually if the sirens start up in a thunderstorm we all walk out to see if we can see a tornado. Haven't seen one in person yet in all these years. I guess that's a good thing.

I got started in pinball a couple July's ago when I innocently hauled one home from the curbside trash pickup one evening. If I had know then what I know now... nah, I'd probably still have hauled it home.

Glad to see a pinball forum. RGP is good, but personally I like the forum format much better. Just easier to navigate if nothing else.

Howdy!

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here.

Who says I don't?
Oh, wait.  @.@ You're right, I don't have that one. Tripping over all these broken pins sometimes I forget what I have.
I almost got one a few months back that came up for sale but I was too broke at the time. Looks like a fun pin though and I'd like to get one to play for a while someday.
Honestly I have 7 total now. 1 is not mine but I promised to fix it - sometimes hell to have family. I enjoy working on them though (pins, that is).
Two have been restored and working properly (one is "on loan" to a friend's house) and the remaining four of my own are in various stages of reanimation. One other was restored and sold off because I really only have room for about...
two.  #@#

Is that the RGP Vinito who once held out for Coconut Island updates and added some interesting beer related commentary to the "Nuggy & company" thread started by Mr 68 about this time last year?

If so a big  %)%

If not, a big  %)% anyway!   :D

It is you, great to see you made it over mate! Lots of Coconut Island stuff here already, and lots coming soon!

Should I post a link to some of your finer litery works on that thread in RGP?? :)

Hi Owen.
I think there are quite a few US guys lurking and posting here. I really like this forum.
Hey Nick! What are those "finer literary works" you speak of? That doesn't sound like anything within my skill set.
Then again, beer makes me forget. Come to think of it, I could use a liddlebitothat right now!

Hey Nick! What are those "finer literary works" you speak of? That doesn't sound like anything within my skill set.

I recall something like -

Coming out of the lurking corner to reply here.

I talked to the CI factory owner the other day and I can assure you
that things are happening. I have pre-ordered and my game number is
007. I was the first order but I liked that number and they were happy
to take my deposit and oblige.

I can also assure you that the quality is very high. I have ordered
from them before. I needed a PC power supply and nuggy had a spare one
on a shelf. Except for the fan not working and a missing plug, it was
better than the original part. Funny thing - I accidentally dropped it
later in the afternoon, but the pre-applied protective space-age
silver laminate strips (a custom option) provided more than adequate
shock resistance for the case. It was virtually unharmed.

They took me on a tour of the operation which took a big chunk of a
quarter hour to cover. I must say I was impressed! I cannot relay any
facts, not because I fear betraying their trust but because the finale
of the tour was a slick, high-tech machine they call a "kegorator".
After we got to that point I don't remember the finer details, but I
can say that after the conclusion of the tour I felt my concerns
gradually slip away. By noon I no longer had any worries. Even non-
pinball issues seemed to trouble me less than before.

They did tell me that the laminate strips I previously described might
be suitable on parts of the CI game too, but that it would not be
provided on the game as "stock". However, they assured me that it is
available locally in most areas, so I plan to keep an eye open for a
local source. Seems like it would be handy for a few other things too.
Kind of a "handyman's secret weapon" I would think.

I am looking forward to more updates as much as everybody else. Keep
up the good work guys. If the game release is delayed, maybe you can
send me one of those kegorators to tide me over.

Or something along those lines....

Oh, yea. It's starting to come back to me now. Not all of it, but I think either I was involved, or at least possibly saw it in a movie or fast food commercial. Since nick tuned me into the portable "mini-kegs" that I was lucky enough to find available at the corner store, there are many recent events in my memory that are both dreamy and uncharacteristically stress-free. Quite handy devices - they fit nicely in either hand and come strapped together so the occasional fumbling grab doesn't send them tumbling around in the fridge. Thanks for the tip Nick!
By the way, is my deposit still appreciating?
