Various em sites recommend changing Transformer settings from low tap to high tap- Does this only apply to American voltages ? !@#

Its a nasty short cut to get more oomph out of your machine instead of cleaning it up and doing a proper job.. it will eventually kill your machine... no reason to go high tap at all. its an insidious act of vandalism that some tag  "restored" to.. nothing could be further from the truth.

LOL- needless to say im not happy with this technique of tweeking a game  ^&( ^&(

It works on my KP, and nothing negative to report after 6 months.
My machine was cleaned-up, new parts put in, all adjusted properly, but just needed a little more oomph to make me happy!

100% agree !!

If the game was meant to play faster, it would have left the factory high tapped.

I refuse to do it on EM restos, as guaranteed with 6 months - I'm told that plastics are broken or the ball keeps smashing into the glass after a target reset.

I'm no fan of tweaking EMs in this way - but if it is your machine - you can do as you please.

Kev,

If it's the Sweethearts I would also suggest as leave as she was supposed to be.

If the game is rebuilt properly (like your Bazzar and Jumping Jacks) it will be fast enough  :D

Hi-tap it, install LEDs, stick a sound card in, add couple of ramps, and it will play much better.

Glad you got a laugh Tony  (). I still think EMs had the best artwork of any era, and consider we look at our machines as much or more than we play them.

By the way.
I did put the Sweethearts on high tap  && && and yes there is notable difference in the Bumpers and Flippers but not to the extreme of damaging anything except possible a lower coil life.

Thats what I found, its not a huge plastic smashing boost of power, its just low-dose pinball viagra.
