After seeing all the fantastic restorations on this site, I was inspired to attempt some minor restorations on my EM shooter.
I found some wires that had broken off their tabs, but when attempting to resolder, the wire is oxidised so badly that the solder will not take.
Even after cutting and restripping the wire just won't take any solder. I have managed to scrape the wires with a knife to restore some "shine" and get solder to hold but they still don't look real good.
I know that some acid based fluxes can be used to clean the wire but not too sure about potential downfalls of this.
Just wondered what methods AP members use to clean old wires for soldering.
Appreciate any suggestions or ideas.
