Chasing some very basic data east info...

Heyo guys!

Looking to start my first ever resto this week on a data east jurassic park and am just chasing some very basic info before beginning.

Ive been looking online for replacement legs and a coin door and whilst i have found many legs/doors for bally or williams or stern i havent found any saying they will fit a data east machine. I know it may seem silly or obvious but was just wondering if legs and coin doors are a 'standard' kind of part between the manufacturers. Will probably do most of my shopping at PSP as they are not far from where i live so any links would be greatly appreciated.

Anwyho, thanks a bunch in advance for the help. I look forward to starting a thread in the restoration section as my resto begins and am hoping the resources and help of the AP forums and community will assist me in achieving a result i would never have thought possible before joining.

Most legs will bolt onto your game its just the length and style that varies.   I think they should be Black non ribbed legs but im not 100% sure on that.

If you're putting on lew legs on the JP Steve how are the threads in the leg plates (the bit inside the cabinet that the leg bolts screw into) .

I have a Data East Star Wars that I recently replaced all the threaded leg plates in . I used the Williams/Bally type with extra thread :

They fit basically straight in (you have to buy some screws to attach them to the inside corner ) but are heaps better than the original DE ones that don't have a lot of thread and strip out easily .

On my Guns N Roses, the coin door was the same as the UK rounded Williams coin door.

The wrinkled powdercoat finish was the same as the Data East original

Mark should be able to help with a coin door, they are of same manufature as the Bally/Williams ones, but as they come in different types and shapes, 1 slot , 2 stlot etc etc.. Maybe post a Pic

Should be 28-1/2 inch black ribbed legs.

A WMS door won't be a direct fit onto a DE game. While the skins may be similar, the harness is different. Adapting the harness could be more time consuming than just respraying the existing door, if the existing door is salvageable.  If the original door is beyond salvage, you may be able to move the harness from one door to the other, if you stay with the same number (or less) coin slots. I believe the door on your JP is a Coin Controls door, Coin Controls also made coin doors for Gottlieb and some of the doors for WMS, so some parts are likely interchangeable.

I've got a feeling the Stern legs may be suitable for the JP.  They are the black matt rough finish from memory.  Just remember that Data East turned into Sega and then into Stern basically so Stern is your best bet for replacement parts I think. 

Pretty sure there were one or two of the retailers selling Stern legs at the moment or check eBay and see if you can get a good pic of them to see how close a match they are.

I just transferred the harness over from the old coin door to the new one, took all of five minutes
