Jungle Lord Williams System 7, Displaying junk
« on: January 25, 2010, 09:39:06 AM »
My Jungle Lord came on in audit mode again, so I changed the batteries and it didn't help so I will change the battery holder. But it also now has a jumbled display. I can press the reset inside the backbox and it plays properly but the displays don't work properly. This is what comes up.

Try switching it off and then on (quickly) - this will remove the audit mode and the game should be in normal mode.

Are the replacement batteries good ?

I wonder if it's two issues?

1. A battery / battery holder / cmos issue for coming up in audit mode and

2. Display master board / cpu board connector issues.   I have these a fair bit on my sys6 games.  Try reseating these connectors, they come from the top of the cpu board - one for BCD codes and two for strobes.

check out Clay Harrells'  guide
http://marvin3m.com/fix.htm

this is definitely covered in the WMS section as I was looking to buy a Stellar Wars once that had this issue

I am pretty sure it has something to do with the CMOS chip, either bad batteries or even the chip itself.

I would do this whether it's the cause of the problem or not.

I've now done the battery holder mod, so it no longer comes on in audit mode. The display has come good by itself so I am thinking it is a bad connection so I will replace the 40 pin connector and check for dry joints at the same time.
Does anyone know who stocks the connector to suit?

if these are the molex style connectors, you could try great plains electronics

not sure if anyone locally has them
