how small things can change your day
« on: February 02, 2010, 01:05:27 PM »
most of you already know that  My 2 year old has had a few problems and last Thursday My wife and I sat waiting to see a specialist , we had been waiting to see this doctor ( MR)  . for near 3 months , as our hospitals have a 3 month wait and then some , we had to wait ,  it seemed  like it was years to me ,  last we had been told was our little girl was to either have both her Legs broken and or she would be having a metal frame made for her  legs , the last doctors we saw said this and she was on a scale of 1 - 10 she was a 8-9 . they had taken pictures and wanted to use these to show off to students  ect ect . So you can imagine how My wife and I have been feeling and with this day fast approaching  and to be sitting there , yea well  it was hard.  first off we have to take miss 2 to get more x-rays , she of course wasn't happy and as soon as they are done she grabbed her shoes and ran to the door waiting to get out .... , So off we go back to wait some more . Monash medical Centre ( its still a hospital to me )  is so big, it seemed like a ten minute walk back . well we sit and wait again and finally  after a hour or so we see someone , he tells us that  maybe we can get away with putting both her feet ( leg upto her knee) in a plaster  for a week then come back and see if that helps and back in again. we of course are happy but sad , it could have been worse we think .  then we get another doctor come in and she agrees .  so we then talk about it and the MR  comes in and says  show me this and that and we have to do it all again. this time miss 2 was better and made it easier  , he to our disbelief  he tells us  to go away and come back in 2 years and that she should grow out of it !  Not sure if my wife saw  but I have to be honest a tear came to my eye of joy. he tells us what we can do and what he expects to happen and how it work and go on till she is 8 or so .
we walked out of there very happy and relived. Our problems aren't much compared to others there I know ,  but its so hard when its a child.

yes I am a commercial seller here and a collector  but first and foremost I am a father , its the little things that bring you back to earth

I hope it all works out Mark......

I know your feeling, my son (now 10) had a problem with his right ankle bring turned in slightly and we were told the same thing about waiting and seeing if he grows out of it. It has not effected him in the sense of his sporting prowess as he is an outstanding Aussie Rules player and Teeballer.

It occasionally gets sore and hurts after sport but it is slowly going away and fingers crossed it will all be gone soon enough and he will fully grow out of it.

Good news Mark.
I don't think I could have my kids legs broken and tell her it was for her own good.

Mark, it brought a tear to my eye reading it. As a dad, i know exactly where you are coming from.

When my new baby boy was born, just on the 19th december, we had a few doctors telling us stuff about his hips n all this technical stuff. They also wanted to put my brand new baby in plaster and all this stuff. I said WTF.

it made me feel as bad as u could ever feel. I felt they were making a big deal outta nothing but they kept saying otherwise.
finally, i rang my mum who is 65 yrs old. she came down and had a look and said "the doctors are full of crap". i went with my mum.
I have since taken little Hunter to another doc who says all is fine. But these doctors have a way sometimes of turning ya world inside out.

Glad your daughter is ok. Excellent.  ^^^  ^^^  ^^^

I used to be a cold hearted son of a bitch, then I became a Dad and things changed big time.  It feels like any pain or suffering your kid endures, you feel two fold.  Great news Mark about your little girl and hopefully it all sorts itself out without any intervention.  Give her a kiss and a cuddle from all of us and buy the family a special pressie.........I know this guy in Bayswater that sells NIB pinball machines, you should grab one.

Dang Mark, that's a horrible thing for a kid to have to go through, I'm glad your daughter may grow out of it and not be forced to go through all of that.

Having kids changes you for the better, but it sure isn't easy!

It is tough when it is your kid that needs something done - fortunately we have not had to go through anything like that (just one broken arm to date) but I feel for you and your wife.

Hope it does all work out to the good and that she does grow out of the condition.
