GTB 1976 AX reset relay question
« on: June 26, 2010, 07:33:18 PM »
This is a picture of the AX reset relay from my GTB Surfer from 1976.  To get the terminology right I think the coil I've labelled A is the trip coil and the one labelled B is the reset coil.

The game seems to mostly reset except this coil which attempts to reset on what looks like every motor 1/3 revolution.

With my finger I've moved the reset plate which is the same as energising the reset coil, yet the bit labelled X doesn't move. I think it should move to the left being pulled by spring S?  There should be no gap at G.

Also I would say the contacts labelled Y should be open in the position shown. Would anyone care to comment on if I've got the understanding correct or if they can see anything wrong with the way the parts are aligned in the picture, Thanks for any comments.

If you activate the reset coil manually does x move back into position?  From the looks of it the Y switch is jamming x from resetting

Thanks Daniel,  I think you're on to it.  Here is a picture of the switch finger in the X plate - looks to me like the Y actuated part is in the wrong slot?

Thats it.    Try loosening the switch stack and feeding that back into its home and fingers crossed its fixed.  All the other switched look to be in order  ^^^

Is the round bit of the X lobe hanging down meant to finish on the left side of the reset plastic edge when reset?

Thanks Daniel. I realigned the contact fingers through the guide plate and the AX relay chattering has ceased.   $#$  This relay now finishes in the non tripped or reset position. The machine still doesn't fully reset, but it's progress. I'll try some more tomorrow.

Daniel is correct. That "Y" contact needs to be moved across one "slot" ( to the right ). Loosen the two screws on that stack, move the longer contact and then tighten the stack.

hey mate,
was that the Surfer that was on ebay the other week? From Penrith or somewhere?
Couldn't believe how much that machine went for.
Was the cabinet paint as bad as it looked in the picture?
Lets go Brandon!

Didn't see that thread.
Was watching that one myself, but saw the pics of the cabinet and wondered how bad the P/F was.
In the end it was too rich for my blood.
Congratulations on your win, good on you and good luck with the restoration!
Lets go Brandon!
