Capcom Pinball Magic Eproms
« on: July 31, 2010, 01:47:36 AM »

Does anyone know what Eproms are used in Pinball Magic, the manufacturers IC number, not the capcom PN, ie. 27C256, etc.
Also does anyone know what the differences are between V1.0.6, which is the current Rev the machine is running, versus 1.12 which is the last known Rev?

Thanks

MarkC has (or at least had) a Pinball Magic - hopefully he will know.

I'm tipping John Wart Jnr will know.  There is not much he doesn't know about ROMs.

Pinball Magic is a great game BTW.

I'm the lucky owner of Mark C's former Pinball Magic.
It's running V1.0.2 eproms . . .
Here is what is embossed on the chips themselves:

U24 (Music) Intel P87C52  L4472481A
U28 A-00471  3MI  AK9539Z01
U29 A-00471  3M2  AK9539Z00
U30 (Music) 27C40000DC-12  M1733-A

Below is a link to Pfutz's site. This is the V1.0.2 ROM upgrade service bulletin.
I hope this helps.
And it IS a wonderful game!

Pretty easy to figure out, really.

Capcom did use those 27c4000s quite a bit, but it's fully compatible with a 27c040 or 27c4001.

The game used a mixture of 4 and 8 meg chips - 27c040 or 27c4001 for the 4 meg and 27c080 or 27c801 for the 8 meg.

You can figure this out by looking at the binaries - 1024 KB = 27c080/27c801, 512 KB = 27c040 or 27c4001.

CPU Board uses 4 meg at U1H, U1L, U2H, U2L
Sound Board uses 8 meg at U28 and U29 and 4 meg at U30.

I don't have a change log for this one anywhere.
